I know Old Trafford is the biggest in England exluding Wembley but ive got to say i much prefer Villa Park. Still feels like an old ground but with the modern changes Whats everyone elses thoughts
The Emirates and the City of Manchester Stadium are both pretty impressive, but I prefer grounds with character that are a little different from identikit stadiums. So I'll vote for Fulham.
Oakwell. Quite enjoyed Loftus Road though. Like old grounds with chatacter. Thought the Etihad was absolutely *****.
Loftus Road Millmoor (still standing so I hope this counts) Edgeley park Bootham crescent Four cracking grounds if you want character. St Marys stadium St James park (not Exeter!) Britannia stadium Think those three all have a cracking atmosphere. But the best grounds in England overall for me would have to be: Anfield- the overwhelming feeling I've got on my two visits there have been a feeling I'll never forget, dispite the atmosphere being shabby by the home support the last time round, I think that's a very special ground. Etihad- newish ground but a little different to all the other soundless bowls teams are going for.
By character, you mean a shithole. If you're going by that criteria I'd add Darlington, Halifax and Worsbrough Bridge MWA to the list. Millmoor was a literally a death trap (Swansea fan killed there) and a toilet in more ways than one. Rammed down that alleyway with Rotherham fans above lobbing bottles of piss and bricks at you was not my idea of fun. Give me the comforts of the MK Dons Arena any day. Fantastic modern stadium with brilliant acoustics, facilities and undercover.
Wembley is the best stadium. The only one in the world that comes close to it for me would be where Dallas Cowboys play..... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AT&T_Stadium Some of my favourites i've been to would be St Marys, Reebok Stadium, St James' Park (Newcastle) and Ethiad. Better than some of the ones I hated the most visiting like Layer Road (when Paul Reid did his Morgan elbow to get sent off), Walkers Stadium, Burnden Park and Elm Park (although we won 3-0 there for my first ever away trip).
Etihad for me. Not normally keen on new stadiums but that one is class. Quite like Portman Road and Upton Park as well, proper traditional grounds.
St James' Park (Newcastle) is one of my favourite, I like the Camp Nou saw Barcelona v Juventus in a friendly there sold out and amazing atomsphere!
Old Trafford for me. I'd love to be there when its full. Went for the Olympics last year and was amazed by how imposing it is inside. It was about 70% full that day, with very few actually supporting either side. I bet its something special to be there in a major champions league game, at full capacity. I barely remember going the first time when we got a draw there so it was a great experience.
