Yep, lets find a bunch of lazy scroungers and use them to villify every body on benefits, typical tory tactics, but unfortunatly it works, get the working class people talking about it and they will forget all the **** that the rich get away with.
Watched it for ten minutes. The woman having a go at her daughter for getting a job knowing she will only have £100 a month spending money when shes paid her rent .....
Having worked as a benefit fraud investigator until recently meeting thousands of claimants. People like this are just the very tiny majority. Most on benefits are poor and desperate that's the truth. Programmes like that are just there to back up Tory smears on the poor and disabled. Facts about benefit more is left unclaimed each year than is claimed fraudulently. Tax avoidance legal. Benefit fraud illegal. Wonder which costs the country more...
Of course people like that don't exist ... its all tory propaganda. Blimey im no fan of the present Government but there are people like that in every town and city in this country.... whilst honest hard working people who have paid taxes all their lives are struggling.
I'm all for supporting those who want to do something to help themselves. However, such folk who take pride in saying they have no intention of looking for work while arguably having more luxuries and "disposable" income than those at the lower end of average earnings goes a long way to explain why society is the way it is.
Most people are wise enough to know that not all people on benefits are like this, and stereotyping works both ways as this board demonstrates frequently.
Just a shame the government won't admit our economic system means there aren't enough jobs for everyone and they have no intention of creating enough work for everyone.
I don't think anybody said they don't exist, they do, but they are a very small minority, what is been said is that the tory mouth piece media take this minority and portray them as the vast majority and get people to believe that most benefit claimants are feckless workshy scroungers.
That my friend is the corner stone of capitalism, the tories have always used high unemployment as an economic tool whilst fiddling the true figures ( zero hours contracts is one of the latest tools for that ) to show how the private sector is creating jobs.
Channel 5 is run by the Conservative Party now, when did that happen? When I was unemployed after 6 months I had to go to a job club and I was the only one there who didn't have an off-the-books, cash in hand job. There are loads of people on the fiddle.
True and it is wrong. Next can we have a series on Newspaper owners who print stories about benefit scroungers whilst not paying tax themselves. Episode 1 - Daily Mail - Jonathan Harmsworth aka Lord Rothermere, claims non-domicile status in France, even though he is hardly there, pays virtually no tax. Episode 2 - Daily Express - Richard Desmond, worth approx £950 million, but registered the Express in Jersey to cut his tax payments, despite the fact that his office in St Helier only has a skeleton staff and everything is still done in London. ****ers.
I'm well aware that people with genuine illness and disabilities are being penalised. I work with disabled people in my job. That doesn't stop me from being angry when people cheat the system. I've seen young disabled people being offered jobs that would change their lives in terms of income and self esteem. Only for their parents/ carers to reject the offer because it interferes with allowances.
