"it set off a chain of events that have intertwined both clubs and particularly both sets of supporters ever since." really ? am pretty sure other than you the vast majority of reds supporters could care a jot about Rochdale and its fans and vice versa, as for the rest, it would have been quicker to simply put Rochdale are better than us, at everything
Excellent read, I usually give up on your blogs after the first couple of paragraphs, as they're normally a collection of your posts on here with padding...lots n lots of padding... Negatives? No mention of Cyril Smith or the Rochdale Cowboy, in the padding...
Interesting read Whitey but cannot get on board with your views about the berk. Didn't you go to the League Cup game last season? I went into their bar and came away most impressed. Would love to see summat similar at Oakwell but there's no chance of that. People who think Preedy's is any good should have a look at the set up at Spotland. It might open their eyes a bit.
A good read Doc and you're right about the bar, I popped my head in for a look when we played them in the league cup.
Can you imagine it though? All that free space in the East Lower. Next time Ben Mansford meets the BBS or supporters club or whatever, he needs questioning on this. Because I would love to hear the excuse as to why it works for Rochdale but can't possibly happen at Barnsley. And thanks for the comments. I'm going to bed now. Or, the TARDIS, perhaps?
As I do with some of your comments in your blog, thought that's what a forum is for, or were you just wanting everyone to slap thi back and tell thi how great tha are ?. Most of your blogs are a good read but on this occasion , obviously only speaking for myself, not so , simply because I don't care about keith hill or his football club. Maybe you should tell your Rochdale chums on there forum someone didn't like it...oh wait
Good write up, Andy The fact that I don't share your new found love for another club & it's fans (nothing against Rochdale), doesn't make your blog any less entertaining or an enjoyable read. Having listened to Ben Mansford speak on his ambitions for the club, I think it's ludicrous of anyone to think he isn't aware of the need for change with how the club is run and isn't determined to push through those changes. There'll always be some who want these things being done overnight and refuse to accept it can't be done. But, as you say, if Rochdale can do it, so can Barnsley. Well done, mate.
Interesting read, it read like like one of those fan reviews ont football grounds guide, now there`s a thought for thi.
Enjoyed reading that Whitey.I too have a Rochdale link.Back in the early/mid 70's I went to Spotland to watch Barnsley and called into there supporters club. Before I was allowed in I had to fill a form in,name, address etc and was then charged 10p.A couple of weeks later I got a letter and a green laminated card stating I was now a life member of Rochdale supporters club. All that and I only wanted a pint.
