I've never tasted it. ******* gorgeous.

Don't worry Mr C, I don't think there are actually any badgers in it.

Not tried that one yet, but I do enjoy some of the other Badger beers, like Tangle Foot and Fursty ferret., Oh and Poachers Choice, but that one is a darker ruby ale.

I've tried both Tangle Foot and Fursty ferret, good stuff, but I think Golden Champion knocks them in to a cocked hat.

I've always been a lager drinker, but this summer in cornwall we were out on the first night of our holiday having something to eat. They had nowt on draught and I noticed that the lager came in 375ml bottles and the ale came in 500ml bottles, but they were both the same price. Being the tight fisted Barnsley man that I am, I ordered the ale. It was great and I've been drinking it ever since. Both Asda and Tesco do good deals on bottles and I try different ones every week. I like some of the Acorn stuff a lot, but this Golden Champion is brilliant. I'm not sure I'm ready for the darker stuff you mentioned as I've stuck with the blonde/pale/golden ale so far.

I better whisper this as I might get lynched, but I like them really cold out of the fridge.

Dont let the silly buggers get you down mate, drink it how you like it !
I like the Ossett Brewery beers very much. I reckon you would like the Silver King and Yorkshire Blonde. The Excelsior is a potent drink too !

There are some lovely Porters and Ruby beers around nowadays, like Big Red .

I prefer it cold too. I'm a lager / cider drinker normally (aside from whisky) so maybe it's something to do with what we've gotten used to.

    Yes.....

At this time of the late evening, a hot milk chocolate, with a floating marshmallow and a random sprinkling of cadbury's flake on the top.

    That's for the wife.......

I'm finishing a few Belgian Specials......Duvel, Westmalle Tripel, Chimay Red Cap.

I've tried the Yorkshire blonde from Ossett. It's fantastic. I usually get a bottle every week, but it wasn't in the 4 for a fiver offer at Tesco.

What exactly is it? I've always thought the word "ale" was a bit of a catchall?

On a totally different subject, I know you've got big problems with Flitcroft and I know you have your principles, I'm not going to even begin to try to talk you round or change your view, but you really should get down to Oakwell to see Paddy McCourt in a Barnsley shirt while you've got the chance. Before long he'll be injured or sold or he'll fall out with the management team and you'll kick yourself if you never got to see him.

He's not as good as Glavin, he hasn't got the goals in him that Glavin had, but he's got that same magic and the hairs stand up on the back of your neck when he gets the ball. He's worth the admission fee even if we lose 3-0. When he hasn't got the ball you can always spend your time giving Flicker the finger.

Good question. I'm pretty sure I'm one of the last people in the world capable of giving a good answer, but I've had a few tonight so I'll give it a go.

They're sort of like a cross between bitter and lager. The golden/blonde types that I drink look a lot like lager, but they're not as fizzy and they have bags more flavour. Not strong, bitter flavour, some can be really sweet, but loads of subtle flavours. It's like the nicest lager you've ever had.

As for the actual definition, I really don't know. I'm pretty much a novice at this.

I suppose I associate "ale" with bitter, tried a few "real ales" in No. 7 at the insistence of my mates but to me (as a lager drinker) it's a bit like drinking old dishwater. I just don't get these flavours that they apparently get. Not saying lager isn't a monotonous drink at times, but then I suppose Coca Cola is as well, it's just a familiar taste that is pretty consistent everywhere you go...open to trying something new so I'll look out for these in the supermarket and try a couple.

Sadbrewer told me of one of his own concoctions 'Badger's Progress'. Don't think it had any cocks in it. :)

Me and bossman tried an ale in the No 7 other week. Can't remember the name, but it was how I'd imagine diesel to taste. Folk were lapping it up. God only knows how.

If you like that, get yourself a bottle of Seven Giraffes from the Williams Brothers Brewery in Alloa. It can be a bit of a ****** to find in England, although funnily enough they sell it in the shop next door to my house in St Petersburg. Anyway, it's well worth seeking out, in my opinion the best beer I've ever tasted. A golden ale with plenty of hops so both flavoursome and refreshing - but the real surprise is that it's finished with elderflower and lemon zest. I thought it would be mingtastic when I read the label but it's a gastronomic orgasm in a bottle, trust me!

La Chouffe, on draft. 8.5% of pure gold.

If you remember the first time you got pissed and the warm glow with massive grin attached. It can bring that back to you and it tastes like heaven in a glass.

******* immense trust me. I had 6 pints and was in a happier world for the evening.

6 pints of 8.5% beer? That's like 13 pints of Fosters or 10 pints of Stella.

Jesus. I've probably drunk that much alcohol in a single session a few times in my life, but not for a long time and not without my bedroom spinning like the waltzers and uttering the oft repeated line "never again".

Someone in work randomly found a bottle in his local off licence so I'm waiting to sample it!

Just bought myself a full crate of all the badger beers from Costo. 16 500ml bottles (4 of each kind - Tangle foot, Golden Glory, Golden Champion and original) £17 which I thought was a bargain. Love the stuff
