Only about a million times I would think. I haven't read any of the board yet. Best goal we've ever seen of that type at Oakwell? David Currie scored a few like that, but I don't think he ever beat so many defenders. McCourt went straight off after the goal so either he was injured when he scored it, which makes you wonder what he'll be like when he's fit, or he thought we were playing knock out Wembley. (That last joke is courtesy of JLWBL.) I've never seen us do so little and be 3-0 up before. I've only ever seen us be in such control and throw it away once before, that Ipswich game. Fortunately this time we clung on. I thought Flicker made a terrible managerial decision to put us in that position. We changed to 5 at the back, left Jim O'Brien isolated at full back and allowed them to deliver cross after cross in to our area. Why Wiseman was pushed in to the middle and not instructed to help out Jim on the wing I'll never know. If another had gone in I think we might have been looking for another managerial team on Monday. That would be a real shame because we have the basis of a good side. We played some great stuff today, Chris O'Grady and Martin Cranie were excellent. But it could also have been 3-3 at half time. Their number 9 missed two free headers and a clear run on goal, even if he was offside and he handballed it. Lots of good stuff, an unbelievable goal, some not so good stuff and an awful last ten minutes that seemed to last a life time. Typical game of football I suppose.
According to the radio, mate Paddy's ill, so hopefully he'll be available for next Saturday. Ah, Knock Out Wembley! Those were the days!
Re: According to the radio, mate So he scored that goal when he was badly? Best goal we've seen for years and he had to run off the pitch because he'd got the shits.
Fair summary; I think if Pedersen had scored when put through by JoB second half we would have gone on to score 5 or 6, but as soon as they got back into it it was squeeky bum time again. Thought front 2 were superb, Pedersen never stopped running and has got a good jump. COG was outstanding. Midfield did OK, but defence, jury still out. Each did OK individually, they just didn't look like a unit. When we attacked and hassled them, we looked superb; when we sat back, we just invited them on more and more until the inevitable. To an outsider, that must have been an excellent game.
Re: According to the radio, mate I don't know which direction the redistribution of his stomach contents actually made. But yes, he scored a goal like that when he wasn't very well.
Re: According to the radio, mate Thought the McCourt goal was like the Ginola cup goal in the very same net, with the way Paddy went through the Boro team like a knife through butter.
Think he means the goal was like Villa's but then mentions the Ipswich game when we drew 3-3 after being 3 up
No. I mean Ricky Villa and Ipswich. McCourt's goal will invariably be compared to Ricky Villa's goal in the Cup final replay, while the match in general reminded me, and many others by the sounds of it, of the infamous Ipswich game in 96.
Bit different to the Ipswich game in that it was a game of 2 halves in that game, in this one I said at 80mins that I couldn't see them scoring. Me and Mario were reminded of the Stockport game under Hart.
I think you're misremembering the Ipswich game mate. We destroyed Ipswich for over 80 minutes. Chances galore, it could well have been 6 or 7. Then David Watson had an aneurysm, twice, and within a few minutes it was 3-3.
We was coping well with jimbo as right winger, as he was going forward well and keeping there left back busy , but when we went five at back Jim couldn't cope with two against him, but we hung on in the end
No not misremembering, just being a mong and thinking of the tuesday night game on sky under Keef. Wrong Ipswich game.
Yep wrong Ipswich game but right Stockport game. When you think about it we have a bit of a history of putting us poor fans through it.
It was. http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/en/barnsley-fc-stockport-county/index/spielbericht_2298407.html 2 goals from Vaughan.
