Doesn't track back, if he is does, he is jogging leaving Kennedy under pressure by two attackers. Try Mccourt at left and jim on right next friday? Like him but he's not performing
If we ever mixed the play up he wouldn't be overloaded. It seems we have one tactic and use it no matter what.
i can't disagree with the criticism, but i won't attack a player who is routinely being played out of position. we've all seen how he can affect the game, when he's played in a middle 3. flicker's weird obsession with 4-4-2 could ultimately cost him his job.
I like Mellis im just getting annoyed by his pressure passing on Kennedy and not getting back quick enough.
'But you must be able to see the arguments against doing so Redstar. I still think if we want more creativity in midfield we have to sacrifice either a striker or a defender
Take him off and again we look worse. Tells a story in itself. Needs to play in the middle instead of 900 passes to pass forwards Perkins.
Mellis Should be playing behind the front 2 in a 3-5-2, with RNL on the left, Wiseman on the right, Cranie, Mvoto and Hassell centre 3. Perkins and Fox in the middle.
No Paddy? I know he is on the periphery for much of the game but we should have scored twice from his magic today
It was a very bizarre and lucky goal. We should have won today with that system and that team if Mellis wasn't so shot of confidence. I think if we can get someone playing well on the left with the same freedom Paddy is afforded we will be fine with 4-4-2. But if we can't get a left sided p have have to sacrifice a forward or a defender to allow Mellis to create in a 5. Or like you say put a huge amount of faith in Mellis to play in a two (potentially sacrificing Paddy). But I think the other two are better options
Wasted on the left but that's the best he can hope for because Flitcroft has brought in Fox on loan & his deal is that he gets played, regardless.
