Great goal against Middlesbrough don't get me wrong but he was very ineffectual for rest of game and today I'd have taken him off at half time - offered absolutely nothing and looked disinterested except for 1 or 2 runs which led to nothing - hope it's just fitness but can't see what he's done to earn god like status #livingonreputation
He's one of the best players I've seen for a couple of decades at Oakwell. Wasn't his best game today but we could try passing to him more, when he did get a chance to run at them he terrified them. He almost created two goals out of nothing. Not sure he's fully fit yet either, but I'm sure that will improve with games.
Think you are either on your own or in a very small minority. Guessing you prefer the Perkins type of player who runs around a lot rather than the flair player who can turn a game in an instant - dont supose you noticed who won the ball for Pedersons shot against the post and then passed the rebpund back to him did you?
You are on your own there. Yes in an ideal world he would work harder and last 90 mins but every time he got the ball today it looked like something could happen and a couple of times it nearly did. The fact he gets round players so easily despite not having genuine lightning pace shows just how much ability he has; a top quality player who we'll be lucky to keep for any length of time.
I'm afraid he's as fit as he's going to be. It's the only reason he isn't still at Celtic. But I'd play him for every minute of every game we need to create something. When he's on the pitch he makes things happen.
I think he's a very good player. But he was poor today but people still find an excuse to talk about him.
Just away from the point of the thread - I felt sure that was Fox was it not? McCourt won the ball and then stayed wide of him?
Aye he's crap......the squad is bursting with creativity so we don't really need him. Are you for real......FFS?
Yes I originally thought it was McCourt again but having seen the replay it was Fox (who passed the rebound back to Pedersen). As you say, McCourt stayed wide. Well, they say it's all about opinions . . .
Laughable thread. Should have had two assists from his own genius work. Lets get a few others in the team who run marathons though, id have started Daggers instead to be honest. FFS.
Anybody will be ineffective on our right wing whilever the game plan is to play down the left with a Kennedy, Mellis, O'Grady, Pederson, Perkins, Cranie, Fox love-in going on over there.
The level of ability he has means he can turn a game in a second. I'd have a player like that in my team every day of the week. He may be in and out of games but he scares the opposition and can turn games. Nowt wrong with latching on to a cult hero, either.
Me too. I thought he was out of the game for large periods but due to tactics not due to him. When he did get the ball he scared the crap out of them. I'd like to see us play O'Brien and Cywka on the wings with McCourt and Fox in the middle. Playing conservative with two defensive midfielders is obviously not working so lets take the game to somebody. With Cywka and O'Brien out wide and McCourt going through the middle Ipswich wouldn't know what to do.
The one touch pass back to pedersen was quality, plenty of players wouldn't have made that pass so well and the chance would have been gone. Paddy has got proper top quality in him. If he was perfectly fit (which he is far from) he would be a PL player. He has to play in spurts because he isn't fit enough, but when he does get involved he can cause real damage at this level.
you won,t ever see him fully fit that's why celtic are getting shut, all the ability in the world, but.
I completly disagree. Ive never, ever seen Cywka or O`brien pose a serious or even decent threat to a championship team when starting a game. With one natural CM and one extremley attacking minded we would quite clearly get exposed down the middle of the pitch, especially away from home.
