This lad can play, make no no bones abart it.

Problem is that Flicker can't find a position for him (which I believe is just behind the front 2).

Let's make a DECISION......play the lad in his rightful position.......or sell him!

He's definitely not a winger. That is evident to all....except Flicker.

For the benefit for the team as a whole and to include our top attacking/midfield players: O`Grady Pederson McCourt Perkins fox we should play 4-4-2
Flicker wants someone who can link up play with the attacking trio down the left flank with Kennedy and O`Grady and it seems he think Mellis is best for the left wing role
    But hes been shi.te.

Agree completely. There is zero way Flicker will play with Mellis and McCourt next to each other in midfield because of their engine problems. So for Mellis to play where he wants, either (i) McCourt doesn't play or (ii) we change formation and play one up front. Not sure how many would advocate either of those options.

Mellis was hugely disappointing for me yesterday. His body language suggested that there's a problem with his attitude as much as anything, sadly. On a more positive note I really like the look of David Fox.

Wouldn't be bothered if Mellis went in January bring a left mid in who can get back and help a inexperienced left back. For me Kennedy would be better with someone who tracks back and helps him out.

Without Mellis who exactly will be scoring goals from midfield...

Mellis is hardly banging the goals in though, is he?

Think it's more of a frustration with Mellis, because we know he is a talented footballer, but we aren't seeing the best of him at the minute.

i agree. you wouldn't expect a centre half to play up front, or a centre mid to play at full back. he isn't a winger, and it's no good on anyone to keep him there. then again, we don't have a squad for 4-4-2. we knew this from day one. mccourt is magical, but is a luxury player and only has 60 minutes in him. other than that, what do we have to choose from on the wings?

o'brien - heart of a lion, no real quality
dawson - never been a winger, we've proved that with another failed early season experiment
jennings - terrible so far, another mido
RNL - no idea what's going on there, but seems clear he's not going to make the cut

i fear if anything costs flicker his job, it will be faffing with a proven system and complicating things through having a bloated squad. our middle three of perks, mellis and etuhu was virtually unplayable from january to may last season. switching back to 4's has caused chaos

I agree with Alan Clark who said if you are a footballer you should be able to play in any position but goal. I think Antony Kay did that for us. However, yesterday Mellis couldn't even pass a ball to a felloe BFC team-mate. We wanted our Polish friend to replace him after 25 minutes.

If Meilis had put in 80% effort he would be twice the player he was yesterday. He was just going through the motions. The lad showed to commitment to the cause.

Think Etuhu is one of these who needs to be playing every game to be effective, 20 minute sub appearances every few weeks doesn't allow him to have any influence on the game.

At least Flicker does seem to be picking what most would agree is the best team we could put out, the perseverance with Dawson at the start of the season was shocking - unfortunately I don't think he's anywhere near Championship quality.

Left back is a big issue, which is frustrating seeing as we had a left back who was more than good enough who decided he wanted to test himself in a lower division!

No good having the qualifications if you haven't got the commitment. If Mellis were playing in his so called best position for a top Championship club he would be expected to work hard every match, cos that's what makes top teams successful. I would respectfully suggest however, that he wouldn't do that. Please note I said wouldn't and not couldn't. Its about attitude and he needs to change his or move on.

He is very talented I agree, but he needs to be more professional, In a Sheffield Casino on Thursday night at 04.00am with his mates isn't the way forward is it.

Why? He's a young lad. If it was Friday night I'd be worried, but there's no reason he should put his personal life on hold until he retires.

I can see your point JamDrop but it smacks of a bad attitude - hence the reason he can never complete the full 90.

Not suggesting he puts his life on hold Jamdrop, but hes in for training at 10.30 on Friday for set pieces and the like, he should be tucked up at that time.
He was still in at 4.00? what time did he get to bed?
