Yes, some will panic, some are panicking now. What if we win our next two matches, would it be time to relax? I think the answer is no to both questions. Personally speaking, I believe we should adopt a more positive approach away from home. The present attitude of trying to keep the scoreline to 0-0 at half time & then try and hit the opposition on the break simply isn't working.
^^^I agree^^^. I would also say that Flicker needs to stop sitting back at home when we have a lead and stop putting us under pressure with his changes.
I will admit that after the second half on Saturday my panic-o-meter has gone from calm to slightly concerned. Still some way to go before it gets to panic and hopefully it won't enter the red zone.
He needs a full season. The board thought him the right man in the Summer and allowed him to start making longer term changes. He needs to be here for at least two years, regardless.
Fair point. No point in trying to build something long term if you're just going to pull the rug from underneath his feet after less than half way into a new season.
his tactical nous or apparent lack of it this season is the most worrying. 6 defeats out of 6 shows the away tactic of hoping the other team doesnt score clearly is wrong and in at least 3 home games this season we have nearly managed to grab a defeat from the jaws of victory because of his tinkering. Heres an idea for flicker, stop trying to be clever, stop fecking about with formations and go back to what served him so well last season, You never know it just might work again
That's a fair point but I don't think it will guarantee him a stay of execution. I don't think the board will contemplate a drop to league one, more so considering the quality we undoubtedly have in the team.
Not sure agree with that, but I do think we have the players required to turn this season around. I don't think we can afford to be in this position going into the Christmas period.
Not sure about panic - we all expect to lose on Friday - the Donny game could go wrong - my bigger concern isn't the results of any particular game its the whole approach this season - if we carry on exactly the same for the next 2 games even if we get a point or 3 against Donny I will still be concerned - and will remain so until Flicker stops this obsession with defending as the priority when its clear to all we aren't good at it and are much better going forwards than sitting back
Next 4 games are all winnable - we should be taking 6pts frankly and if we don't we're probably not going to be good enough for this league.
Exactly. We get told relegation costs around 4 million in revenue, so the board (and the fans) will want to do whatever it takes to stay in this league and that includes sacking the manager. I'd rather have a new manager every 12 months but stay in this league, then have stability of a long term manager but have to spend time in division three again.
Unfortunately we could end up with a few more results like Charlton last season. Personally I really can't see why Hassel isn't getting a game - unless it actually is Flitcroft being vindictive.
Good idea, hope we are more positive Friday away to Ipswich , and don't just look to contain them till they eventually score. Flickers played it very defensive away from home so far this season and it ain't worked so just hope we go for the win Friday
I'm not panicking. I really want him to be our manager for years. Just as I did with every other, because it means we're doing ok or better. However, I'm not one for suggesting we just stick with him for two years regardless. Believe me, we go down and we're financially ******. No amount of spin from Flicker/Mansford can change that.
