Not sure what I make of it so far. Seems to be a big departure from the first two series. I've just watched the fifth episode and it's another without the Brodie character in it, I think he's only been in one and that was the best episode. There seems to be more concurrent storylines in this series but it's pretty slow going, and the end of episode cliffhangers have all but disappeared. It's obviously building up to something but it's taking a hell of a long time to get there. The trouble with American TV shows is the networks will happily drag them out for years until eventually the ratings are so low they get cancelled, but I think they're already putting nails in the coffin of this one. I could understand if they decided to turn it into a more "what goes on at the CIA" type of show but instead it seems to be a more character driven now which tends to make for a much slower pace, most of it is focused on the Carrie character but I don't even think she's that likable.
I've got to agree, this series really does seem slow to get going, hopefully things will start to unravel but it's all a bit long winded at the mo
It is a shame that the writers of these series seem to lack imagination eventually, I prefer shows which reflect things which could plausibly happen in the world yet these are much harder to get right as there isn't really a gimmick. The first series had it bang on for me, second was probably more intriguing as it became even less clear which side people were on, but I'm yet to see where the third one is going. Probably doesn't help that they killed off a load of characters at the end of the second series and that the bread and butter of the show - spy/espionage stuff - has totally disappeared. People who enjoyed it for that aren't going to give a toss that Dana has p*ssed off with her new boyfriend and that Mike is having it away with Brodie's wife again.
It gets going again in the 5th episode,all the press here had been saying the same but the 5th episode gets great reviews
Just watched it mate, it's the one that aired in the US last night, not sure why it gets great reviews as it hasn't gone anywhere different to what the previous episode suggested. It would probably work better as a series to binge through in a few days, but now I've got into the habit of watching it every week I'm not sure I'll be able to get out of that. I started watching near the end of the first series so I binged most of that one which could explain why I enjoyed it much more with not having to wait several weeks for it to get interesting.
Go on You-Tube and search for "Tower of David". Theres quite a fascinating film on the Tower block where Brodie is hiding out, including motor cycle couriers who take people up the first 30 floors. God knows how they managed to film there without incuring the wraith of some nasty people.
Didn't realise it was a real place! Always been fascinated by South America and the sheer vastness of cities such as Caracas which is probably why I did actually enjoy that particular episode.
I have never watched it, But there always talking about it on the chat shows and TMZ type programs. First series was filmed in and around DC i believe. But Im not sure about that
It's definitely worth watching, I know it's set in the DC area (obviously as it's set around the CIA etc), not sure if it's actually filmed there. I know the yanks have a tendency to film where it's more convenient so it might not actually be filmed there - I use the example of World War Z which has a large part of it set in Philadelphia but was actually filmed, rather amazingly, in Glasgow!
It is filmed in Charlotte North Carolina and in Tel Aviv Israel. The Israelis wanted some of it filmed there as Homeland is a US remake of Hoftuim which I am guessing means Homeland
