since the win against wolves in mid feb we've had 6 league wins, this form is going to take us down. Flicker is a top bloke and a hard worker but i'm not sure that this is enough,I thought giving him the job when no one else was available or basically didn't want the position was the right thing to do and I was over the moon with jan/feb,but the rot set in a not long after, theres very little improvement on the pitch, attendences are crap as a result so in my opinion summat needs to be done, and we don't want to be waiting till the new year.If theres no improvement come mid November then action needs to be taken. We've a different board now, with a different approach,Crynes saga is out of the way so i'm sure we wouldn't have the embarresment of candidates turning us down, which in hindsight i'm glad o'driscoll did and I never wanted butcher because he's proved nowt managing a club with less talent and smaller crowds than athersley rec.
I've had a look ... since Keith Hill left after the Blackburn game he has achieved 43 points from 34 games unless I've miscounted.
What ???? why have you accepted going down ? You know when you head for the hills when the revolution you crave comes, there'd better be plenty of electric blankets and chip in those caves or you'll be roarin' yer eyes art !
Hang on a minute. You say "Not to take anything away from his achievement with us", but then do exactly that!
Coppell ... you mean Steve 'I don't manage anyone further North than Watford except for Man City where I lasted six games before resigning' Coppell ? That one ? blimey I've heard some off the wall suggestions but, well ... blimey !
Colin's sides have always been direct. Would be a horrendous appointment. Thankfully I suspect no chance of him ever coming. We are too direct under Flitcroft. Results In poor ball retention and puts pressure on our creaking defence.
i believe its time for change, Flicker doesn't have the tactical knowledge to save us. Plus it makes me laugh when the flicker lovers say "Yeah but weve got 4 points from the last two games," lets be realistic we nearly blew it and drew with boro after more poor defending and then couldn't beat a poor owls team. Things are looking bleak at the moment...
There are only a very small handful of managers on my 'not while I draw breath' list and Colin is one of them.
Absolutely with you on this one. There are few managers that would keep me out of Oakwell. Colin is one of them.
I would be delighted to see Wilson back at Oakwell as he has a proven record. Russell Slade has a job at the moment
We won 5 out of flickers first 7 league fixtures in charge, 7 out of 9 if you count the fa cup,a run which probably kept us up. We won only 4 out the last 14 league fixtures last season, think the fact that we picked up points against all the teams that finished top 6(great results and performances btw) masked the fact that we were gash against teams around us. If you consider its 2 wins out of 13 this season, thats 6 wins out of the last 27 league fixtures in flitcrofts reign. I know some want him gone and some want him here long term but with 6 wins in 27 its hardly surprising that many are worried. Personally i change my opinion on a match to match basis
Until the last few games I was firmly in the stay camp now I'm completely unsure. The performances against two poor teams despite the 4 points were poor and if we can't beat that Wednesday team we are in for a season of struggle.
