At Blackpool says his club is the best run club in the league and there are six teams who if they fail to win promotion will be under ffp embargoes. ( source metro) Let's hazard a guess. Liecester Blackburn Bolton Qpr Bournemouth Leeds.
I'd say the top 4 are certainties. Not sure about Leeds, wage bill will be significant but that's balanced by big gate receipts. Does it take into account parachute payments etc? Wigan's wage bill will be hefty I would imagine.
QPR will probably be covered by their 60m parachute payments that I'd imagine are classed as football earnings. Leeds under Bates were quite frugal and they've not spent too much since their takeover. I'd say, Leicester, Blackburn, Bolton and Forest are certs. Wednesday are also struggling, Mandaric kept them afloat with 5m of personal loans.
I hate seeing football clubs go bust, like Pompey, but I would love to see all 6 of the clubs go tumbling down. Makes a mockery when certain clubs play within their budgets (like us) and others just spend cash like theres a never ending overdraft
I believe Brighton built their stadium with a large loan from the owner, some of which was paid back in the form of shares. If they are making a loss and they owe over a certain amount to the owner/board members that could breach the FFP rules.
The problem is what will the consequences be - I heard on the radio last week it would be either fines or transfer embargoes. Fair enough the transfer embargo but what good is a fine? the issue is they've got plenty of money anyway so a fine is no deterrent. The punishment needs to be either transfer embargoes or points deductions in my opinion otherwise its just lip service to the entire issue.
