Football manager 14

Bought it yesterday. Looking forward to playing it managing Barnsley!

 

Got into September international break on it with Barnsley. 4231. Won one, 2 draw, 2 losses.

Jennings playing very well on left wing for me.
Got a keeper in from Europe, 3 1/2 stars. Tried getting Steele out but couldn't so he's on bench.

I'm 41 games into first season, currently 8th, 6 points off the play-offs so I'll just miss out I reckon. Played 5-3-2, Wiseman has been quality at RWB. Got rid of Dagnall and Hassell at start of season, sent RNL and M'Voto out on loan. Mellis and Perkins went in January to Palace and Burnley as they didn't want to sign new contracts so cashed in. Signed a few players, mainly foreign but Keith Fahay has been quality on a free transfer.

 

Ahem, It's "Fahey" - Everybody spells our surname incorrectly!

 

Oops my apologies, never quite worked out how to pronounce it either!

 

Originally in my family it was "Fahy" but somewhere along the line it's changed to "Fahey" - Pronounced "Fay" but in Ireland it's pronounced "Fa-hey" or "Fa-hee"

You can just call me "John" though

 

Had same problems with Mellis and Perkins but couldn't get them out in the summer for the price I wanted. Signed a replacement for Mellis at the end of the window from Scotland.

Fahay, signed him in the beta but I've got someone else in my proper save

LDRed. Steeles on 7k in the game so that's a lot of money. You can get two players for that money

 

John sounds much easier, I just call him Keith in the game anyway

 

Finished 11th in the end, messed around with tactics a bit. Need to get some transfers done now, I usually suffer second season and end up getting sacked!

 

Not bad. I'd be very happy with 11th.

Does my head in that you have to pay out a large amount of debt.

Hopefully one of the younger players comes good. I've loaned Rose out to Portsmouth. Loaned Clark out to Cambridge then realised I didn't put there league as playable and they don't play games apart from cup games so I got him back.

 

RNL is rated 5* on it so hoping he will come. Loaned him to Wigan at start as they said he would be a valuable first team player but he only played 5 times so I recalled him at Christmas and sent him to Notts County where he played most games. Hoping he will start to come good this season for me.

 

If the people discussing this about a computer game are over 21 then you lead very sad lives

 

Any recommended transfer targets for the first season?

I used to enjoy football games, sensible soccer etc but then I grew up! Computer games are for the young not middle aged men who think they are the new Mourinho then because they do well on a game think they can discuss tactics and how Flitcroft should manage his players!
