Why? He said he was fit to play. Trautmann played with a broken neck he didn't blame anyone did he? The madness of todays world, everybody sticking their noses into every thing that happens. Loris said he was fine to continue - end of matter!

If he says he is fine then that should be the end of it, not all players are pansies!!

 

With respect, that is a load of complete and utter b0llocks. A concussion is a very serious matter. From what I have read, it was AVB that decided that Lloris should carry on. He should be sued for negligent behaviour, IMO. Concussion = brain injury.

Over here, if a player is diagnosed with concussion, he has a minimum waiting period of SIX WEEKS until he can even be considered fit to play again. Concussions happen all the time in (ice) hockey and it is considered a very serious injury - it is taken far too lightly in the world of football, again IMO. Two years ago arguably the world's current best (ice) hockey player Sidney Crosby was out of the game for 11 months because of concussion. Do you think he wanted to be out of the game that long? Course not. He's not a pansy, he was just under sensible doctor's orders. Otherwise another big hit to his head and he could end up like Mohammed Ali. I think you need to understand the problem a bit better before you suggest that people are "sticking their noses in". Either that, or this is a wind up. This is a very serious issue and AVB should be condemned for his (in)actions.

 

Put it this way, when I was an A&E nurse we would ask anyone coming in with a head injury whether they had lost consciousness (amongst other questions of course!) and if they had they would end up being kept in overnight for observation. So yesterday we effectively had a club playing a player who should really have been hospitalised.

Just imagine the repercussions had he received another blow to the head and died. I'm not saying that was only one further blow to the head away from death, of course, but the Spurs management and Lloris himself couldn't guarantee that he wasn't. I am fully expecting a hasty new directive to be released by the football authorities in the wake of this incident.

Totally agree it was only a head injury, nothing to worry about at all.....

 

How many players in the history of football have died from concussion - go on name me some!

 

Do you not remember what happened to Iain Hume? How many of us thought he'd just suffered a knock to the head after Morgan's elbow?

 

Did he die? What happened was bad yes, but football is a physical game

 

He under went emergency surgery, so he could've died, yes.

Better to be safe than sorry with a head injury, it's nothing about being a bigger man and getting on with it.

 

I just believe tha if you feel ok yourself then your the best judge, not some prat in a tv studio who wants people to get in trouble for the decision to continue!

 

The medical staff at Spurs wanted him to come off. I think I'd trust their judgement.

 

Loris felt well enough to continue, that really should be the end of it but the witch hunt has started with different organisations getting involved, pathetic

 

I wouldn't call it a witch hunt. Everybody is/was genuinely concerned for the well being of Hug Loris, and he went against medical advice to continue. We'll just have to agree to disagree.

 

Probably for the best it could end up with a 12 page thread!

You do understand that someone who has just been hammered in the side of the head might not be well placed to judge his own condition?
