A lot of moaning going on here. People just defending their own little personal/favourite territories, when the bigger picture is that the REDS are reaching out to the fan base and creating a great discussion platform. I'm from Wombwell and will be going to Cricket Club this Thursday.......but if this venue wasn't on the schedule, I'd just nip up into Hoyland and attend the Hare and Hounds. Easy. It really is no big deal is it?
It's not a private event. but by having it downstairs in No 7 it means you can seperate the Reds on Tour meeting from the rest of the pub so you aren't interferring with their other custom and vice versa.
Don't think you asking for names Gally but me in attendance as ever would be welcome if you can put me down. I drink in old no7 and courthouse (and go with them when not on train) so not bothered where it is.
Some of the No.7 crowd go away with the Courthouse but there is no doubt that more go from the Courthouse than anywhere else and that includes the football clubs own coaches from oakwell! There are some scrag ends who get in the Courthouse through the week but the pub is full of diehards before and after all home and some away games and for the reasons stated above should not be overlooked. But Gally says they haven't now so all's well that ends well
Makes you wonder why it was overlooked in the 1st place though, was it a club decision or influenced by the supporters trust who all seem to frequent the number 7?
Feels a bit if an unfair attack on no7. Courthouse should be included but plenty on interest for two tome centre pubs. No7 feels about right as the other. Be it the fanzine base, or fans who go there, or co-owner who is a Red, it's been chosen so let's accept that.
I've only been in the No7 a couple of times but when I went in the barmaids were tattooed goth girls so it didn't really seem like an old-fashioned pub for bearded folk music fans.
To be fair I can’t think of many supporters clubs we do have! I jokingly called Courthouse a shithole earlier but I’ve never seen any trouble in there, just one middle aged and slightly embarrassing woman trying to start an argument with a young Hull fan. She certainly wasn’t the pride of Barnsley anyway!
no. 7 is pretty much the only pub i go in these days, on a matchday. that and silkstone. i'm glad it attracts ale drinkers. these are friendly peaceful people. i'm glad that an away fan can come in and sit down next to me, in their replica shirt, in peace. and i'm glad it repels those who get confused, cos they can't get fosters, bud, or strongbow. the ones who wouldn't tolerate such an away fan. plenty of other pubs in town for these people. proper pub, for proper mesters.
Again what the **** are you talking about? All 1000 members? The board of the supporters trust? (If so nope probably bar Hicksy)
Surely you was asked about what pubs to attend on the 'tour'? If so why didn't you include the Courthouse, ulterior motive? Or are we the type of fan you try and aviod
