Once again I find myself agreeing with Jay. This is getting like a love fest!

One Conservative says something reprehensible 8 years ago does not mean that they all agree with it.

Sorry but I don't subscribe to the student union view of the Conservatives as being evil right-wing fascists, in fact I don't think they're even right wing and see no difference between then and Labour.

As far as I'm concerned, my disabled daughter has proved that the ignorant pillock in this old story talks out of an orifice not usually used for speech.

Aaah, I found it FB and assumed it was current. I would have not likely posted the link otherwise.

Wish papers would archive a bit more obviously. A poppy logo makes you think you are looking at a current page.

you are a nawty nawty boy , now go an stand on the nawty step

have to agree though, the old git was way OTT. I have no real political bent these days as I feel they are all rolled off the same conveyor belt no matter what party. But I have had the complete honour to have met Miss Laura Herring, inspirational is just the tip of the iceberg in her case IMHO. My nephew Iohan is a downs syndrome person, he is fabulous, and what he do on a PC is awesome .I believe that no matter what dark condition a person has been dealt with none asked to come into this world, to that end we should and must support all people who are tagged with the label 'disabled' . For a long, long time now I have wondered what the word 'normal' actually means, I shy away from using that word these days. When you watch the Para Olympics you cannot fail to be humbled at what you see, I wonder if that politician has actually watched such events. Also when he says disabled what about our servicemen who have become disabled over the years? due to service to their country , do they come under his guillotine too?. I know this is an 8 year old article, but it must be one of the biggest examples of "putting your foot in it" in many a year. Bit like Edwina Curry with her eggs and household budget..... now that's really going back a bit. As far as I am concerned though... " Let them eat cake"

Accurate post. speaking as a parent of a child with a disability albeit a mild one there appears to be a far more invidious attack on disabled people by the current government. Less in your face than this chap but no less vicious. Spread misinformation in the press about disabled people leading to increase in attacks and victimisation. Remove protections like the Independent Living Fund. Instigate things like the bedroom tax without thinking of the impact on those with adapted homes.
