If you've any left can you tell Big Phil to drop one at Grandma's for Uncle Gary (Fu(k that name makes me feel old )
Cheers for the comments fella. Some folk want pics, some words. It's certainly Sommet we've talked about.
Going by what you read by some of the posters on here I think the more pictures the better To some The Beano counts as one of the Classics
Like the famous saying goes 'you can't please all of some folk all of the time...... and Sommet else'' We'll try harder. Promise!!!!!! UTWSB
The only criticism I'd make to be fair is the amount of reading involved. It's an engaging read but if you sell a mag outside a footy match it needs a touch more 'flick through' appeal. Cartoons would be fantastic although I appreciate the difficulty of recruiting a volunteer resident cartoonist. But for me it could do with some quick smile raisers that you could take in during half time with only 15 minutes and all the hubbub. Nobody could complain at the volume of content. It's huge, possibly unsustainably so but it is very text intensive. Something to break it up a bit would improve it IMO. Nevertheless, my own contributions aside, the story so far for WSB is a triumphant one. Keep up the good work.
2. FareShare who distribute to food banks in the area & HomeStart Barnsley to buy some Christmas presents for kids.
I'll do an article on you if you like? The many usernames of CricketJim/DavidCurriesLoveChild/Greekman etc etc.
You have got me mistaken with someone else 0 or do you chuck slanderous insults out when someone knocks your obsession with the many forums out there in internet world?
100% of the submissions are 'stories/articles' thus far. Any 'cartoony' ideas, submissions would be welcomed. We'll certainly be using more for #3 and were working on a few ideas already. Onwards & upwards!
Can't fault the fanzine. I like that it's alot of text on pages as you get more of a read rather than trying to fill pages with less content using a bigger font size. The only mistake was when Exit Calm in their interview mentioned a last minute Ipswich goal in the 1990-91 season cost us the play offs. Infact it was Brighton scoring against Ipswich in the last minute to win 2-1 that cost us. I remember away fans at our game singing "Always look on the Brighton side of life" as a pisstake. Enjoyed the Stockport interview of how far they have fallen. Be good to hear from more fallen clubs in future fanzines like Halifax, Aldershot etc.
it's a complete honour to have my stuff included in both issues of "WSB," as it was to write for "South Riding" all those years ago. i loved my time when i was connected with Barnsley as a place & the times watching the team, both at Oakwell & at a few away games; if required to write a piece for "WSB" #3 , i think i'll write about the 1-0 win at Ayresome Park in April 1992, where the travelling support was the grand total of 102 (i counted)
I went in the Number 7 yesterday afternoon to try and join the clique. There were loads of bearded blokes singing out of tune in a medieval accent with a finger stuck in an ear, while drinking pint after pint of real ale. I tried hard but couldn't find the BFC clique so I had no alternative but to join in with the real ale mob.
