£7m for a 10 year deal. Will be renamed 'The iPro Stadium'. How would we feel about this, if something similar were to be proposed under Ben's 'rebranding' strategy??

I'd be 100% AGAINST the idea.

whats it matter, 7 million in the bank. Everyone would call it Oakwell anyway.

Fev rovers sold name of stadium for years, everyone in fev still calls it Post Office Road

Agreed! Would also be quite silly of them as they have put the oak and the well on all the proposed badges.

Interesting debate though. Could we afford to turn down that kind of money? Then again, is it actually that much, c700k per year??

I'd welcome it. We still call the ck Beckett stand the ponty end. Well still call it Oakwell in any case.

Well, I still sit in the Ponty end and always have done, no matter what the sponsors name is, so I'd have no problem with taking £7m to give Oakwell a name that only non-Barnsley fans would actually use. Depending upon who sponsored it of course.

I wouldn't mind as I'd still call it Oakwell. I'd be happy with the club getting 7 million though.

Changing the name of the ground is a lot different to changing the colour of the shirt (which I would hate) .

As people have said, The Ponty End is still the Ponty End; it would still be Oakwell to fans.

I'd be hard pressed to tell you any of the stand sponsors name. Ponty, east, west and away end... Simples

Put it this way, if someone offered the club anywhere that sort of money, and it was paid annually, they'd be foolish to turn it down.

Not sure how you are "selling your soul" by changing the name of your ground. I am most certainly not one of the "new breed of fan", but this is exactly the kind of the sponsorship the club should be after, IMO. We would all still call it Oakwell anyway, and this has got to be a better way of bringing money into the club than by "selling your soul" in other ways e.g. Big Daddy investor from Saudi Arabia or the likes. Bring it on, Ben.
