The town centre of Barnsley is just not suitable for these sort of things, it creates havoc meaning it's impossible for the elderly disabled and those with kids in prams to navigate through town

i'm sure they can stay away for a couple of days, if it's that much of a hassle. this is exactly the type of thing the town of barnsley needs

there isn't one. It was cancelled last year and instead there is a craft market (featuring some german stalls) from Thursday 28th November to Sunday 1st December

Cheers ST, I'd forgot about last year but yeah that's just the info I needed. Can still get my mulled wine and stollen in the tent followed by a bratwurst!

It is supposed to be about attracting people not discourage them, it not a suitable location. How about doing it on lower court house car park

Why can't elderly people go to Barnsley during the market? There's plenty of room

Agreed, exactly what the town needs to try to attract visitors who would otherwise have no reason to come into town

It what way is the precint close to the rest of the shops not a suitable location?

Market traders have already complained before that although it attracts people many don't go to the local traders in the market. If you put it in the Courthouse carpark that would make it even worse.
We used to go to the coffee guy at the continental market for ground coffee, but they we found theres a similar stall in the main market so we use that instead to give custom to local traders. So I'll only buy from the continental market what isn't available in the main market.

Just hope the Italian baker is back so we can get cannoli!

You mean the places with large areas which are perfect for a market as opposed to Barnsley which has quite a small town centre? They do the best they can with the available space and there is plenty of space to walk around, it certainly isn't dangerous for the elderly
