Speaking as someone who grew up within a stones throw of this fine establishment, I can confirm that Marlon's assessment is just about spot on.

Would also agree with an earlier poster too, you should try to find a way to have a few beers in town, then taxi back to Cud'eth, maybe in time for last orders if you're feeling particularly adventurous, and finally get yourself to Yungs Chop Suey House (up the road on the other side from The Star) for a slap up supper.

Hey many thanks guys for your help.
TBH I have managed to cancel the Star Hotel and have got a room in the Black Bull. The opinions of the Star were taken onboard and I bottled going there. LOL
I know exactly where the Black Bull is and it is more central to my needs.

Thanks Marlon for the heads up on this one.

All I need now is to somehow make sure Barnsley win.

Ach I'm sure it would have been ok but you never know. Anyway John I'm booked into The Black Bull, much more central and an area in which I'm more familiar with.
That's the problem when you visit cities you don't really know.

£30. Room only. Quite acceptable IMO.

A chinese takeaway 100 yards away, Frankie and bennys right next door if you fancy something a bit more upmarket for your dinner and you can pop to b&q across the road/roundabout for breakfast, there's a decent typical supermarket cafe inside or a nice burger van in the carpark.

    Hey up Ian,
    its my local the Star.
Simon and Diane have run it for 15 years at least.
ex royal marine is Sime, and Dianes brother used to play for Barnsley and England.. Hes David Hirst. I`ll have a couple of pints with you,
The spice house Indian is the only sit down meal in the village sadly, loads of takeaways mind and sometimes bands on Saturday nights.
Give me a shout when you come down.

I believe that David Hirst's sister used to have the Star, not sure if she still does cos I aint been in for years. Why not pop into West Green WMC, Monk Bretton (artiste on Saturday night). Myself, Jedi and Frum Tarn are all regulars.

Dining out in the B&Q car park? You really know how to live high Supertyke. That said, I cannot deny the burger van does always smell absolutely delicious, amazing what a hangover can do to you!

    What's the £5 breakfast at Frankie & Benny's like?
