Go see it. Don't wait until it comes out on DVD, go see it at the pictures.

    Just that.

Tbf, I think all 3D films are rubbish. They give me proper headache. And motion sickness. Dark Knight made me physically sick!

Seen such contrasting reports of it. Doesn't sound like my sort of movie and not interested in seeing a 3D film, so I'll give it a miss. If everyone had raved I might have been tempted but it sounds like an either love or hate movie.

    I didn't see it in 3D, I saw it in 2D.

You must have been searching for the bad reviews. Rotten Tomatoes and IMDB are giving it fantastic scores. It doesn't seem like a love it or hate it film to me. It's the most spectacular film I have ever seen. It's not the best film I have ever seen, but it's the most visually stunning and I've seen 2001: A Space Odyssey in Cinerama. Don't miss this for the sake of a bad review. You're doing yourself a disservice if you do.

No, I've not searched out any reviews - it's just comments from people I know that have been to see it.

Went to see it yesterday on the IMAX in 3D. Absolutely blew my mind. Space is what 3D is made for. Normally I wouldn't touch 3D but this works. Totally. I spent the first 20 minutes open mouthed. And to be honest I reckon it must be stunning in 2D too. I actually could have just watched them mending the Hubble telescope for an hour and a half.

Jay is spot on though. Go to the cinema for it.

Thank God for that. I was starting to despair:- Go see this, it's the most amazing thing you'll see in years, it'll blow your mind, it's just phenomenal. It's on at pictures now, go see it. "Nah, I'm not bothered, I think I'll clear the hairs out of the plug in the bath."

I'm going to be dead before too long and it'll be for a hell of a long time. I'm ****** if I'm not going to see and try anything and everything I can before that happens. Particularly when the amazing thing is coming to my town and costs me the price of a couple of beers at a town centre pub. I'm not promising anyone they'll like the film, we all have different tastes, but I can't believe there is anyone who won't appreciate how amazing it looks.

Absolutely. I go to the cinema about once a year but made a special effort to go and see this. And lets be right, I regularly spend £23 going to Oakwell with a very high chance it's going to be *****

Apart from being visually stunning is it any good as a film? If the effects were no better than say apollo 13 or any random 90's film would it still be a good movie?

Yes, in my opinion. But that's not the point of seeing it in the pictures. There's lots of decent movies come out every month. This is better than many, up there with a lot of the better ones. But you'll get just as much pleasure out of many of them by watching it on DVD at home. Particularly as many people have large wide screen TVs these days. Gravity is something special to see at the Cinema. Summat worth changing your routine for and making the effort to go.

I made my mind up I was definitely going to see this at the cinema as soon as I heard about it. I would love to have seen it in IMAX 3D, but when I found out it was coming 3D to Parkway in Town my mind was pretty much made up. I have never seen a movie in IMAX before, but the costs compared to Parkway are crackers. IMAX would have cost me and the Mrs in excess of £30, and that is before petrol costs etc. Parkway cinema is only a 20 minute walk for me (but Courthouse parking is free after 6pm? anyway and all weekends). We saw it on (Orange) Wednesday too and they don't even charge extra for 3D screen, only the 3D specs need to be bought, unless you already have some. The cost was £6 in total. So we watched the film, which turned out to be stunning cinematography, just as Jay says. It's not the best movie I've ever seen either, but Alfonso Cauron's direction was immense!

With the money we saved from going to see it in IMAX we decided to walk to the Silkstone Inn and enjoy Chicken Night with a free pint of real ale, followed by a second pint and still spent a few quid less than had we gone to IMAX.

Do that. Do what Googs has done. Go to the local cinema, then have a couple of pints and a meal and enjoy your life.

Reight. That's it. I'll stop boring you all and shut the hell up.

wanting to go see it at IMAX as ive never done IMAX before so seems a good fit.

Also Jay - have you seen captain phillips? That is one hell of a film! Absolutely gripping from start to finish. I managed it after a full day session and 3 course meal. Brilliant.

Yeah I'd say so. Suspension of disbelief required but it stands up as a piece of work on it's own without the special effects
