Well I was thinking that this was a pee take at first (I'm Cudeath born and bred), but it seems not. This has to be the funniest thread ever ( no disrespect to Arabian Ian) . It the going upmarket to Stairfoot that seals it for me...

Hey Redeye no disrespect here mate.
Actually I quite enjoyed that banter last night. I'm oblivious to a lot of the things being said but it was a good laugh anyway.

I think I may now have made the correct decision regarding accommodation. Then again, who knows? LOL

    Thanks for the entertainment guys.

I'm from Cudworth mate. Not the best place in the world but compared to some places I've been to, it's not too bad. The Star itself isn't too bad, they've spent a bit of money on it over the last few years and it does get a bit lively on a Saturday night. It's about £3.20 for a pint of lager, but me and the lads usually get bottles as if im honest, it doesn't taste the best.

Your other main alternatives are, the Queen Vic which is about 100 metres up the road. This gets busier at around 10pm. Not as well furnished as the Star but the beers slightly better and slightly cheaper.

The locals basically start off in the West end WMC, just up the small street to the left of the Star, because obviously its cheap, then into the star then the Vic.

As far as eating goes, I couldn't recommend any of the takeaways in walking distance of the Star mate, although there's plenty to go at. Personally I usually go to Don Pepe's on Cundy Cross roundabout about 2 miles away, on my way home from the game.

I didn't read any of the 100+ replies above so I apologise if ive repeated anything stated above

Thanks Archey but I decided to cancel the Star and chose to get fixed up at the Black Bull. I've used the Travelodge in the past so kinda know the area.
More central for town and Football and walking distance.
    Cheers again mate.

Is the West End still men only? Been 35 years since I was in there...

No, they've been taking women members for about 4 years now, think the were one of the last WMCs in the country which still only allowed male members. My mums got a DVD with a recording of either calendar or look north from 1987 with my grandad telling Christa Ackroyed why she shouldn't be allowed in the club unless she was working behind the bar.

Haha. There's the West End moving into the 20th century then...
Full of characters it was in the mid 70s. Remember playing doms there as a 18 year old with some old codgers and getting completely pasted by em. At the end one of them pointed out that they had sat me in a seat with a mirror behind me and they could see everything I was holding!

I've heard all sorts of stories, mostly about my Grandad who apparently was a bit of a character. Lewis Crossland they called him, he wad on the committee I believe. I like hearing all the old stories, because I was too young to remember him as he died when I was 3. I have a ring at home which he won from someone playing cards in the West End, judging by the size of it, the bloke he won it from must have had fingers like sausages, it's huge.
