I posted about this a few months back. I said it then and will say it again, the world cup cannot go ahead in Qatar, not if they want a successful tournament anyway. What will the sponsors think? I reckon the revenues will be slashed on this one, wouldn't surprise me if some of them don't want to be involved.

    Best possible outcome

Sponsors take flight, the tournament is a shambles, TV audiences tumble and FIFA implodes.

Yes I remembered you'd posted it before. The been have finally caught up so I thought I'd share again.

Corruption from start to finish throughout FIFA. I can appreciate the vision of spreading the football message globally and inclusivity but it's more about backhanders than building bridges. And the human rights record of the countries they allocate something as prestigious as the World Cup should be a factor.

Playing the World Cup in Qatar is the same as (potentially) taking the Winter Olympics to Saudi Arabia.

It's just total nonsense and only satisfies the cretins involved at FIFA.

Blatter is a joke, but gets away with scandalous decisions, time after time. Who does he answer to, or is he bullet-proof?

Just for clarity JC, I was in no way suggesting that you shouldn't have posted it again but can see my post may have seemed like that.

Thats something I didnt know - so if you go to work in Quatar you cant leave the country unless your employer gives you permission - not sure how that fits in with generally accepted human rights and is clearly open to abuse as is obvious from this article - especially for the likes of migrant labourers it could even be very close to a form of slavery -
