I knew he was worth a few bob but the BBC reckon he's worth £650m and he's about to throw a chunk of that trying to help UKIP win some European elections.

He's from Cudworth - is he a tarn fan?? He's said in the past he isn't going to leave any money to his kids apart from maybe buy them a house.

Come on Paul mate, just a tiny proportion of that wealth could transform Barnsley Football Club and have a knock-on positive effect for Barnsley as a town as well!

Leeds fan - not a massive surprise, a lot of people of his generation seem to be. Done some further reading and he's apparently given loads of his money away to charities...even if he did have any feelings towards Barnsley FC I couldn't see anyone of that mindset pumping money into a football club when it could go to a charitable cause.

Ah well, suppose we'll just have to hope some young Barnsley fan is at college at the moment whilst developing the next 'Facebook' type thing on the side which he (or she) will flog for a zillion quid.

It's OK running a football the "right way" and sustaining itself, but hardly anyone else is.

Didn't he try and buy into the club years ago and the Dennis family rejected his offer?

I'm sure when The Don was around he will have got in touch with Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerberg about a joint buy out of BFC.

Don would have approached MySpace and Friends Reunited...and ended up investing in them rather than the other way around!

Is that a euphemism for the board of directors? Not sure Mrs Dennis and the kids would have had much say in this mythical event.

Would love to see Paul Sykes getting involved at Barnsley Football Club
If ever he wanted to put Barnsley on the map then there is no better way than supporting your local football club....the club where you came from

Good to hear he is supporting UKIP ..............the battle ground at the next election will be between UKIP and the Conservatives

UKIP are likely to attract as many or even more traditional Labour voters as they are Tories..........basically because its mostly Labour voters that are competing with the influx of workers from the eastern block countries

His son Richard Sykes is a Barnsley fan, known him for 40 years, often at some of the bigger games.
