    I heard this rumour years ago,no idea if its true or not,but I doubt there to be any 'links' as I would have thought the idea and planning of the shopping centre was done before the internet was up and running.

    When did Dodworth pit shut ? Cos Meadowhall was being planned in the mid/late 80's.

    dodworth shut just after the strike,1985.most men transferred over to redbrook.

    there was also ideas to turn dodworth into some kind of leisure park with a dry ski run down the stack.

    The pit closure started in 1985 and was completed in 1987.

    Dodworth shut in about 87, Mederhell opened 1990 so I would think the building of Meadowhall had started before Dodworth shut. As someone said above there where plans for a ski slope etc. on the stacks so has the poster of the rumour got the two mixed up.
