For the English wicket takers you are with me then. Swanns at his best when it doesn't help him wellsie. When it's more to his liking like in India Monty out bowls him. Can't see him been above broad or Anderson for highest wicket takers.
I didn't know either. I meant the freeview channels really but 1-5 in the old days ..... Can't say i've ever watched Pick to be honest. Wonder if it will be Skys comm team or Assuies? Can't see them having there own.
I only saw it yesterday, think Sky Sports Cricket tweeted it. They've hidden it well for some reason, but people should be able to find a way to at least watch the highlights. Think most people have freeview now so shouldn't stop many folk.
From what I can make out Sky Sports bought highlights from Cricket Australia by outbidding ITV and even BBC. Then they tried to sell on the highlights package to Channel 5 but wouldn't let them show it till 10 pm. So C5 didn't think it was worth paying alot out for an highlights show that would finish an hour before next day starts, so Sky put it on their own Freeview channel. Maybe for later tests Sky will allow a 1-5 channel to show highlights earlier so a deal can be made.
I'd say the England cricket team already have a lot of respect from the country. I can't recall anyone I've spoken to saying anything negative about them for quite some time. Completely different to the football team.
Surprised you can still get 2/1 for the draw when days 2-5 have a 60%-90% chance of rain....... http://www.weatherzone.com.au/qld/brisbane/brisbane
Excellent - thanks for the tips about watching it on Pick TV. Would never have thought to look for it there! BT Vision box recordings set for days 1 to 5. Just got to somehow avoid the news every day until 10pm, a la Bob and Terry trying to avoid finding out the result of the England match in Bulgaria
Now that's an impressive goal, mate Hopefully, there won't be many Brian Flint (played by Brian Glover) characters on the BBS to avoid. I wish you well.
His average is pretty much bang on the same at home and away, Australia is by far his worst place averaging 39.
Re: Now that's an impressive goal, mate There are always some though, aren't there? Plus you click on Yahoo's home page, and the headline is "Aussies batter Poms" or "Sensational day at the first test match" - you know the kind of thing. Easy enough to not hear it on the tv news, but there are other annoying ways the media (and individuals) have of giving the game away. I'm sure I won't be pursued by a Flint character from church to pub etc but I reckon my chances of starting each highlights programme with no knowledge of the previous day's play is somewhere around zero.
Re: Now that's an impressive goal, mate I think it's an admirable aim, sir, and deserves to succeed. It's certainly a damn sight more difficult than trying to avoid a result in Bulgaria! Don't forget to find a comfortable pew in St. Peter's!
Re: Now that's an impressive goal, mate Mad, more like, although I do have the advantage of working from home so provided I never come on here before 11pm, am careful which websites I call up, leave the radio off all day and avoid any news bulletins on the TV I should be ok. I can get through the day easily without hearing the scores but I know how crushing it is going to be when, like Terry and Bob, I settle down at kick off time to find that rain washed out the whole day's play
Re: Now that's an impressive goal, mate I absolutely can't wait, after all the coverage that the papers out here are giving KP, Broad, generally just making a load of white noise. They're supremely confident even though the only test they've won this year was against Sri Lanka at the SCG back in January (I was at that Test, Sri Lanka looked very poor). I genuinely can't understand where their confidence is coming from. I reckon 3-1 England. It'll be a draw in Brisbane & we win everywhere apart from Perth. I'm off to the whole of the Adelaide test and the Saturday & Sunday at the SCG. I'm looking forward to it so much, never been to Adelaide Oval
Re: Now that's an impressive goal, mate Lucky, lucky man! I would even forego a few Barnsley matches to attend an Ashes series - obviously there is the little matter of winning the lottery first though! One of life's ambitions - hope it comes true one day.
Re: Now that's an impressive goal, mate Me too. If I won the lottery me, my Dad and our kid (Ponty72) would be there for all five tests.
Re: Now that's an impressive goal, mate I actually came out here for the last Ashes as a tourist & went to Perth, Melbourne & Sydney - Split up with my then missus & decided to save my nuts off & treat myself. Seeing us win and absolutely decimate Australia at the MCG is one of my favourite ever moments in sport. I live out here now, so (luckily) it's just a few days of work and a short hop down to Adelaide
Re: Now that's an impressive goal, mate Just seen a little report on BBC News at Ten - interviewing Ian Bell and Aussie cricket coach Graeme Hick. Sky in Brisbane looks bright so should be at least one good day to kick off the series. Feeling very envious of anyone down there. The REALLY ANNOYING THING for me is that I lost my Sky Sports when I moved house recently so I cannot watch the matches - have to rely on the one hour highlights show on a freeview channel
Re: Now that's an impressive goal, mate They do usually have a very good terrestrial sports service out here, with a lot of the one dayers and the vast majority of International Sports, whether it's Football, Cricket, Rugby League or Union on terrestrial TV so anyone can access it. I have sold my soul and gone for the full Fox Sports, ESPN and Setanta package though, it's the only way I can get to view the UK Sport
Re: Now that's an impressive goal, mate What a position the sky box is in. Bet it's the second best position in the ground. Fox will have the one next door as they commentator swap a bit.
