Hi CricketJim Many thanks for your constructive and well thought out comments, the supporters trust will of course take your views on board and give them the consideration they deserve. The criticism made over the last few years of the football club is that it has lost the connection with the fans, one of the aims of this pub tour by Ben Mansford and his team is to reverse this and start to reconnect with the town and it's fans. Surely this is a great start. Ben asked the Trust to take part to show support for the club but also to help the trust to get out meet and connect with the fans and other fan groups and yes raise our membership. As a trust we feel this is important and well worth taking part. Yes we are on the sidelines on this tour, but why would we want to be at the front, it is the football club who you come out to meet first and foremost. Tonight I attended a championship supporters trust meeting in Birmingham. It was a good meeting where we all discussed the good and not so good things that we were all doing. One key discussion was fan engagement and how we as trusts can engage with fans and other supporters groups better. Needless to say our involvement with the football clubs pub tour was envied by many there, many of whom cannot get any engagement with their respective clubs never mind the supporters and some who's main concern is if they would have a club to support come the end of the season. So as we discussed fan engagement is important and the fact we engaged with you tonight shows we are working on it and doing something right. If you want to discuss more feel free to contact me via email, I do not hide behind a nickname so get in touch. I am sure my colleagues who have given up their time to meet you, along with the football club will have appreciated your support and chat, that is if you made the effort to talk to us as well Owen BFCST
I've been in a few times over the years, I'm just not a regular, but I definitely haven't got anything against anyone who goes in there and I have no preconceived ideas about the kind of people who drink there regularly. From what I read last week, when people were discussing where the pub tour should go, it sounds like like a staunch Barnsley FC pub, in which case it's a good place as far as I'm concerned. I'm all for anything that promotes our club and gets more people attending matches. Thing is mate, if you're going to come on here having a go at people, you've got to expect a bit of ribbing in return. It doesn't mean I'm looking down my nose at you, it doesn't mean I think I'm better than you, I don't, but this place always has been and hopefully always will be somewhere we can take the piss. We've all had a rant in our time and we've all had the piss taken out of us because of it. Long may that continue as far as I'm concerned. It'll be my turn again soon enough.
I did make the effort to chat with those who attended, i got some good answers from those i chatted to. Please send me your e-mail address either on this thread or via a PM, i have a few things i would like to discuss. Im sure folk will comment on this who already think im a clueless prat, but i cant hide my passion for this football club! i sometimes wish i was addicted to something cheaper!! I look forward to discussing further with you my opinions and others whom i associate with.
So basically, as people suspected. The Courthouse contingent whinged like ****, got a date, then failed to turn up and offer anything constructive. Full of smackheads and pi$$heads. Now you may have an idea why they didn't get a date in the first place.
I will quote Mansford - 'best turnout so far, 6 in the tommy treddlehoyle' I may have had a whinge, but i will still be at Millwall, shame the rest of the 'whingers' don't attend the games i do
Maybe more people should do what I've just done and put him on the "ignore" list. I don't mind opinion, but the childishness, as you quite rightly observe, is more than a bit wearing. Not worth wasting any time on.
Millwall him Greekman and TheReeve are going in the same pair of trainers, they only need one match ticket mind
You're best come back is to ask one of our fans on the other side of the world if they're going to Millwall on Saturday? CT probably pays more in airfare/travel for one match than you do all season, so perhaps she's the better fan here?
