And what effect will relegation have on numbers? (Self and GFT doubts, for starters).

Does MW have any interest in preventing this scenario? (I can see little evidence).

Will BM's plans be watered down/scrapped by the further strictures that a League One future will bring about?

    Discuss.

I wouldn't worry about it, because we'll be in the Championship next season.

Let Yeovil, Weds and Donny worry about League One.

Don't wish to dampen the spirits Lads, but we are considerably worse off in terms of points per game than last season, we have no worthwhile midfield/attack options left to play, and the defence can only look forward to the (eventual) return of Nyatanga, who bids to avoid successive relegations. We have allowed our 'next John Stones' to come off the rails, and have sent our most talented youngster out on loan rather than allowing him to 'grow' in the first team.

Our so-called improvement amounts to failing to beat three of the poorest teams in this league, and more difficult fixtures lay ahead. Flicker has failed to engender much spirit, leadership, or 90 minute concentration and we are a third of the way through the season.

    What will change?

I think "what will change" is that there will be 3 or more teams who are marginally more **** than we are. A lot will depend on what happens in the January window. As things stand we only need 1 win to be safe.

And I think it's clear that we are playing better now, especially in defence, than early in the season, results notwithstanding.

we've been here enough times though mate. if nothing else, we have the experience to get out of it. it can all change in just 2 or 3 games. sit tight.

    Agree completely.

Aren't the results the deciding factor in whether we go down or not? It would be nice to watch us play Barca-sequel football but it's of little consequence if we lose every match. We need points on the board ASAP.

Yes, the results are the deciding factor. I think they'll improve, because we're now playing better. If they don't, I'll know next May. For now, I can't be arsed to lose any sleep over it.

We're not playing better. We have just been playing the poorer teams in the division. And not beating them.

If I had a quid for every season some miserable bugger predicted with absolute certainty our inevitable relegation since we've been back in the Championship I'd have, well, only seven pounds, but that's a quid for every single season. The fact that these people are wrong every year doesn't seem to stop them though. If I said the same thing over and over again, but was wrong every single time, I'd soon learn to keep my stupid mouth shut.

And they will be right at some point, simply down to the cyclical nature of football. And they will tell us they told us so. Ignoring all the previous seasons in which they were wrong.

I think we only look like we are playing better because we have a run against poorer teams and we still can't win.

I think we are playing better, regardless of who we have played, but obviously you are all entitled to think otherwise. To me, it's blindingly obvious as the evidence is plain to see.

Me too. And for some reason, those that are saying we have just played crap teams recently are ignoring the fact that we played Reading off the park for the majority of the game, while the second half at Ipswich was as one sided in our favour as I've seen in a long, long time. Actually, I know the reason, it doesn't fit in with their argument, so they hope we didn't notice.

Am I ever going to take some abuse the next time we lose.

    I agree

Although I accept I'm an optimistic, rose tinted specs wearing happy clapper, so perhaps my opinion doesn't carry as much weight as the pessimists.:D

I'm still just about in the 'undecided' camp so I can listen to both sides of the argument and nod in agreement. From my perspective we are playing better than we were but we are still not winning, not even against very poor teams and that doesn't help to fill people with confidence. Flicker has got a lot of work to do now and he has got to stop with the ***** negative tactics or he will take us down. I think we can survive but not as things stand at the minute.
