I heard Flitcroft saying on the radio about how going on loan was good for him and how when he came in the other day he had a spring in his step.

because hes playing and played well apparently.
We can't get him back for 28 days ST also.
Thats why i think the sooner we get any players out the better. I wished we could have got Dagnall or Nyatanga out last couple of week if thats what they want to do.

My point was that Flitcroft said it as though he was at Oakwell and was happier now because he'd been to Scunny.

Personally I think that we're better off just giving players a chance at Oakwell rather than shipping them all out on loan and persevering with the same under performing players week in, week out after they have got us into the mess in the first place.

It's done now ST and we have to move on. It could do RNL a lot of good if he approaches it in the right way which if hes happy he will.

He can go down there and get an example to players a lot older than him of what you need to do to get a contact at a champ club.

He trains with us a couple of days a week, so am told. Keeping him a part of 'the group' etc etc managerial cliché etc etc.

That interview he did never mentioned a return to Oakwell, though. It sounded very much like it was bye bye, and enjoy S****horpe.

Unfortunately for us who rate him.

No, the one I heard on Barnsley player talked about him coming back.

Maybe this could do RNL good. He mentioned the u21's didn't stimulate him and hes 100% bang on with it.

I heard a different interview then.

Ah well, like I say, good luck to the lad and I hope he indeed returns a much better player. Even though he's already better than some of the regulars at Oakwell.

Do you ever go to Oakwell?
I never see any posts from you about the team or performances? Just slagging other fans! Why?

I dont go to Oakwell , but everyone knows that, even though you ask every week, but you say you do, but never comment on the match , just the fans!

Could have come back due to Laws being sacked? Weird if he is training with us whilst on loan at Scunny, I don't think that ever happens as a loan is effectively a temporary transfer, I suppose he could have popped in or gone to the wrong club though.

I don't think RNL is good enough.

He's had enough opportunities and not taken them, so I expect he'll be gone quite soon.

Clearly Flicker doesn't have enough confidence in him, so why not get shut?

I don't really get either side of the RNL debate. I don't think he's good enough yet to start and I think he's got enough potential to be a good player for us. But he's 20. That is really young in modern football to be a regular. Andros Townsend has just broken through at 22. Butterfield was 21 before he was playing regularly. Only the truly exceptional break through very young (like Stones who made plenty of errors and lots wanted Hassell playing instead).

He definitely shows glimpses in spells of what he is capable of, but he also has positional weaknesses and can make mistakes. But that is to be expected, he's a kid. So how better to remedy these - by having him playing league football week in week out.

We certainly shouldn't be writing a 20 year old off as having had too many chances. And similarly we shouldn't pretend he is the complete player who is being wasted by sending him out on loan.

    Yep, good post that.

I hope RNL proves me wrong and does progress into a steady Championship player.

That post would make sense, Andy, were we not picking the likes of Kennedy who are no better than said 20 year old. Think about it. And Stones/Butterfield got a consistent run of 20, 30 games in one position, hence their improvement etc.

Agree with this also......RNL ain't exactly had a consistent run of games as he?

My gut feeling is he just ain't up to Championship football, but I've been proven wrong on many occasions!
