Whereas we play alright and lose. Not a good trait to have, god help us when we don't play alright. We're pretty **** at the minute let's be honest and we'll go down if we carry on like this. No idea what the answer is but I still think Flicker deserves more time to sort the mess out. I tend to say this about every manager though, forever the optimist hoping the incumbent will improve the situation. Agree he can't have too much time left now, we're starting to get cut adrift though and we know how hard it was to catch up last year.
Why? Genuine question. Yes, he's a nice bloke. But he is not going to sort this out. As best, he may churn out a mini run of results but our league position is well entrenched enough now to show us where we are with the manager, and where, over the mid to long term, we will stay. I firmly believe that we will definitely go down with Flicker in charge. And I also believe that we would then struggle next year, and that there won't be much of a regular fan base left to care.
It's a fair question. Firstly, I'm not a great believer in sacking managers as a rule, I don't think it's good for the club at all. We've chopped and changed managers for short term gains for far too long and it's never really got us anywhere. I think Flitcroft deserves longer in the job, mainly because of the work he did last year as well. This season hasn't gone to plan at all but if we're going to sack every manager after a bad run we might as well stop now. He's making mistakes by the truck load at the minute but he's young and not the finished article by any means. I still don't think we're a million miles off, he's still trying to find the right balance for this team and he's not got it yet, but he's getting closer. I don't think the players are really doing him any favours either, it's hard to legislate for us missing chances and Wiseman scoring an own goal today. We're competitive in each game we play and our squad should be competing now. The defence is so much better now, it's just finding the balance to attack a little bit more that we're struggling with. Main issue for me is the midfield now, the central midfield area of Perkins and Fox/Etuhu/Dawson is not working. If I was the gaffer I'd have Mellis in there and give him the responsibility and play Cywka on the left. How he hasn't got more minutes this season I find staggering. If Flitcroft sorts that out we'll do much better, but it's up to him to sort it. If he doesn't sort it then he has to go, no doubt about that. I just believe that he deserves the chance to rectify his mistakes.
That's fair enough, although I disagree on some points. That's about where I was a month ago when we were losing and getting whacked by the better teams in the division. But for me, his chance has run out of time now. I always did worry whether he was a tub thumper with no tactical substance behind it, and now I am convinved. It is never good for the club when we change managers but we simply have to if we want to give staying in this division a fair crack because right now we are going down without a fight.
I can see why fans, like yourself, want to get rid of him. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. I hope he's given another 5 games to prove his worth, if he doesn't then he has to go.
Comments like that don't do your argument any favours. If you want a reasoned debate go ahead but ******** like 'we will definitely go down this season' are a waste of time.
Think he meant if flicker stays we will defintely go down. Which is the same opinion that lots of others have.
Are you the same winker that was on radio sh®tfield as the last caller heaping praise on flitcroft too? If so go and wind other people up...
That's a better argument, at least there's something behind it. Would be a bit boring if we went like this: We're going down. No we're not. We're going down. No we're not.
Yes but it's much more interesting if you put a reason why we are going down. There's nothing wrong with having that opinion but at least have a bit of a debate about it. That's what this forum is for surely.
Never called Radio Sheffield up me pal. I've not praised him much at all this season, I think he's done a poor job so far but I just believe he deserves a bit longer to rectify his mistakes.
