    But inevitable.

Thanks for everything Flicker. Seriously, the lad has done us proud. But now it's time for a change

Should be remembered for keeping us up last season, not for this season which unfortunately hasn't gone to plan.

It`s to be hoped they have someone lined up or this job is going to attract all the ***** wanting a quick payday and why wouldn`t they when we show little faith in anyone.

New bloke, bad run, slagged off, Cryne`s puppet sacks him. merrygoroundtastic.

Really feel for him, but we are adrift at the bottom of the league.

Ben Mansford will be earning his coin over the next few days that's for sure. I hope Mr Watkins is on the phone to his mates to get someone in we can all get behind.

I hear your pain but this could be an opportunity for us. Can't be any fecking worse

He sounded completely out of ideas, like Keith before him. When that happens, it's pretty much game over. He did a grand job back end of last season and the players rose to the challenge. Word was that him being a bit bolshy in the close season ruffled the wrong feathers and it wouldn't take much for him to be shown the door. He's a likeable fella when things are going well and I reckon he'llmake himself a decent career as manager. Feel sorry for Mickie and Martin too, family men at Xmas - hope they get fixed up soon.

Everything was encapsulated into today. The fans didn't want to turn on him - it clearly wasn't the vitriolic response that triggered Keith's departure, it was almost a sense of resignation that he wasn't going to return us to the style of football that we played last season and that the mistakes he was making weren't going to change.

Last season is a remarkable achievement - and I'm ready for all the pundits to talk of our short memories and that its a crazy decision, but it was absolutely the correct decision.

Good luck to whoever steps in next, and good luck to Flitcroft in the future.

He had to go, the board had no other option. Thanks for last season Flicka, I hope things work out for you in the future.

    Sad day indeed.

We'll always remember Flicker's fantastic success in saving us, but sadly he couldn't sustain it for some bizarre reason, as it was with essentially the same players who had performed so well from January>May.

I really do like the guy, it's a shame it had to end like this, but I could see no alternative.

was inevitable after today's performance. one of the most inept, clueless performances i can remember seeing. 6 points adrift, the new man has got another mountain to climb. there's no way mansford will want relegation on his cv in his first year as ceo. i fear all the resources we had, were thrown at flicker.

after the excitement and anticipation for this season, it's an understatement to say i'm ******* gutted. just hope the new manager gets sorted asap. can't afford a repeat of last season's farce.

    mother fcuker!

really feel sorry for him TBH, seemed a really decent genuine guy and I would love for him to turn it round , but I think the writing has been on the wall for a bit now, repeating the same old stuff in press conferences and making the same tactical mistakes week after week, on the touchline he's looked like a man lost for the last few games.

Well they're not likely to be retained. Not unless Mickie does a Flicker. But I can't see it.

Really pleased to read this thread and see I am not the only one feeling the way I do about today's events.
Flicker is a young inexperienced manager who was learning and making his mistakes on the job, just like young players do.

We need an experienced manager to come through the door next, they will have by the nature of the game success and failure on their CV.

Sad sad day. In some ways a real shame he took the job in the summer. Thanks for an amazing few months but ran out of ideas as soon as the team was announced today it was clear that he had exhausted all his plans.

Well said. A real shame that we couldn't carry on this season like we ended last season, but we did seem to get to the point where the sacking was inevitable. Hopefully he'll find some success elsewhere, as he was a genuinely nice guy and when he got the team playing for him last season it was some of the best football we's seen for quite some time.
