Shocking. He's really got improve off the ball. Cadis went past him so easy. Also on the ball he never made the right pass.
mccourt was terrible today. but no point singling him out. the performance was appalling all over the pitch.
Sorry but this wasn't one game with him off the ball. He's only defended at Leicester when he first got in the team from the games I've seen. It's quite simply not good enough. Kennedy might not be the best in the league but you could get the best left in the league in at left back and he's going to look bad because he just doesn't defend or even cover good areas.
Whole squad is not good enough. Barely any I would set my heart on keeping, with the possible exception of RNL and Digby.
paddy mccourt isn't a defender. he's a luxury player and was always a gamble. with the right players around him, and the right formation, he can unlock defences and cause chaos. but in a $hit team, with a clueless formation - which is what we have right now, he's a waste of a shirt.
While I can understand some of the comments about McCourt, in my view he still looked like the only one carrying any threat. He's a luxury player and poor sides cannot usually afford such a luxury. Think he'll be away in January and I'll miss him.
It's not news that McCourt does nothing off the ball. He never has and gives no indication that he ever will. My own opinion is that the threat he provides on the ball outweighs this weakness although I know others disagree, particularly sitting around me. One thing is for certain he isn't a left winger, but that's the inevitable destination of any player with a sniff of talent in Championship football. Can't trust him in the middle, bob him wide left where he can't bother anyone.
A good manager will shape the team to get the best out of McCourt he is our best hope by a country mile.
The only formation I could think of would be a 4231 with him in behind the striker. Even in a 352 every players have to work hard and defend even the strikers.
that's not my point. anyone taking mccourt, knows what they're getting. rightly or wrongly. paddy mccourt is not the reason we're in the $hit we're in.
Did I say it was all his fault? I would in other games have left him on to see if he could create owt to get us back in the game but today seemed to me to be one of those days where nowt was going to go right for him and would have subbed him at haif time. Whilst he saw more of the ball second half, due to Brum holding their comfortable lead, he did little with it and misplaced passes were plentiful.
He's the most skilful, creative player we've had since Hignett He has more creative talent in his little toe nail than some of our players have in their entire body. We are a better team with him than without. As for being a waste of a shirt, we continue to select enough players in central midfield that deserve the accolade. Unfortunately, all some folk crave these days are runners. Skill is a dirty word with some, but effort and talentless, pointless running is the modern way. Thank fvck I'm a dinosaur who appreciates the Glavins, Hignetts & McCourts of this world.
Re: He's the most skilful, creative player we've had since Hignett Spot on, i thought i was losing it.
Re: He's the most skilful, creative player we've had since Hignett I'm with you. Wasn't Paddy's best game, but he was still better than any other midfield player or striker in our team. By some distance. Played 4 or 5 immaculate passes.
