For me this would be a very astute signing. You don't sit next to gum chewer all these years without fancying a slice of gaffer role to yer sen. This guy has briefed teams for cup, Europe and title decider games that 90% of managers could only dream of
But will Phelan be waiting for the Norwich job, if Hughton gets the bullet? Phelan did play quite a few games for Norwich, so is an adopted son down there in Norfolk.
I've no doubt he'd bring a vast wealth of tactical knowledge and a whole new level of professionalism to the club, my main concerned would be that he is used to working with silk purses, what's he like working with sows ears?
Tom, that for me is not a response that holds a lot of weight to be fair. Quickly got Derby turned around, title in Holland and a pot in Smogland Tell me, would you consider a perceived bitterly poor manager capable of going a full season in another country and winning the league. I rate McClaren, his interview on FF was a good watch, admired how he admitted he had changed and that he was arrogant in his early years. Good luck to the fella
lets face it , nobody is good enough for us Look who we have had managing the club over the last ten years and get real , and yes Phelan would be a good shout for me , ps he has never been mentioned for the Norwich job , when I mentioned it to a Norwich fan today he just laughed and saod who ? they like every other foooty fan are deluded , they are waiting for an unkown foreign maanger to turn them into the new Southampton
If Phelan showed an interest I would bite his hand off. Youth policy at Man U is second to none. We have to stop signing all these crap loan players / seasoned travellers & have the balls to play our own talent. Funnily enough that is how we operated until the promotion to the Premiership & setting up the fabled "Youth Academy"
Which players have man utd brought through in the last decade? They had a golden period in the 90s, not much since. They buy top quality youths for their academy.
