Where I work that salary equates to a band 1 and 2 job. Band 1 is the Director of the V&A, comes with a 72k basic salary.

That fella is living in cloud cuckoo land. How can anyone in politics be so out of touch? I've never earned more than 26k. And over half of my take home goes in rent. If it wasn't for my art work I wouldn't survive.

London is a money pit. Just sat in King's Cross, after a works night out yesterday. £16 for a glass of wine and a pint, in the place we had it. Then the Consultancy boys just pick up the bill with their 'magic card'. It's pretty obscene, the way money gets spent down here.

The average full-time employee in the UK earns £26,200 according to the latest figures from the Annual Survey of Hours and Earnings, while the average basic graduate salary is between £27,000 – £29,000.

I still don't earn that and I qualified with a first degree and I'm into my fourth year of teaching.
