I'm not going to trawl the internet,but I'm sure when he was managing Liverpool it was said that he never played the game as a pro. I cant remember his name,but I'm also sure the bloke who managed brazil to their world cup win in the nineties never played as a pro either.

Bertie Mee who managed Arsenal to the second League and Cup double of the 20th Century in the early 70's. He trained as a physio and had worked in football in that capacity. He had two good assistants in the shape of Dave Sexton and Don Howe who covered his lack of tactical knowledge.
