Micky Mellon says he "can't answer" whether he would take the vacant managerial position at Barnsley.
he knows danny wilsons coming, thats why. 2 wins in 17 gets a manager the sack,1 win in 1 doesn't get them a job and if we win at Burnley I wouldn't have thought 2 in 2 would either.
Or is it that he knows he ain't got it, so avoids embarrassment by evading the question? Was a great result tonight and I applaud Mellon for this, but still stand by my thoughts that we need an " experienced Championship war horse".
He'd take it in a flash. It's not about whether he wants us, but whether the board want him. Personally, I'd go with Danny Wilson, but Micky won't have done himself any harm tonight. He's got a good record in management, albeit at a lower level, so at the very least he should be considered. No one knows who will make a good manager at Barnsley. We may let Micky go and he turns out be one of the best managers of all time. We may keep him and he fcuks it all up. It's such a difficult decision. Personally, I don't think many clubs would fair any worse if they just pulled a managers name out of a hat rather than use whatever process they do at the moment.
Really hope we go on abit of a run here. So we would be stupid not to give him the job. Rather have Mellon in than Wilson to be honest.
I read that as "I've got the job but I can't say anything tonight and spoil tomorrow's press conference" Really hope I am wrong.
How about keeping Mellon as assistant (no need to pay him off) and bring in Wilson as manager. Best of both worlds
Mellon is a manager out of work, he must be looking at other opportunities. How he performs here also puts him on the radar of other clubs. I'm sure the Wendy's will be looking for a cut price manager.
