Talks about telling the players to get on the ball and 'getting the shackles off the players'. Saying he was more bothered about them brave enough to get on the ball and not giving it away. I find this really refreshing and hopefully Mickeys seen the talent in the squad and we can start picking up results playing this way, we could do a lot worse than appointing Micky Mellon!
Got to agree, his interview is really positive and it sounds like the players have got their collective mojo back.
I think he will be given the rest of the season might be wrong , but just think he will be offered that chance. I for one would be ok with that. Not sure who else to look to, would Wilson be the answer , who knows. I just want to see us improving and moving up the division and away from the struggles we have had for too many seasons now.
Re: I think he will be given the rest of the season all very good, but come on - isn't this a complete replica of what happened when flicker stepped in? i got sucked in by the flicker vision and all the fighting talk. not falling for it again so easily. not interested in words for a long time now. i'll comment on what i see on the pitch, and that's it.
Re: I think he will be given the rest of the season I agree but the only way we'll find out is by giving him a chance.
Re: I think he will be given the rest of the season Could see MM being offered the job, but the bit that baffles me is if they are going to do that why cull his backroom staff ? Only options I can come up with is (a) he's a stop gap (b) He gets the job full time but somebody else (more experienced?) is coming in to work alongside him
Re: I think he will be given the rest of the season What you dont know is whether MM was consulted in the back room culling - he may have been asked whether he wanted to keep them whilst he was caretaker and said he didnt need them. Of course its also possible he had no idea but if that is the case you are probably right with option a
Totally agree. Having just listened myself I wouldn't be in the least disappointed if MM were to be given the job.
Re: I think he will be given the rest of the season Not exactly the same Tom, but I think i know where you're coming from. It wasn't just that Flicker kept us up it it was the way he approached those games and the never say die attitude in going to win the games. Changing tactics and making subs early in games if things weren't quite working out. This by and large hasn't happened this season and it was as if Flicker was in denial (his last audioboo interview) MM has had 1 game and he talks well but 1 swallow doesn't make a summer. however, it was a great result and similar against Burnley will no doubt makeit difficult to look elsewhere.
My point is more that I won't be getting carried away with any rhetoric he might come out with. Seen and heard it all before. I just want a straight talking no bull$hit manager, that does his talking on the pitch.
Fair enough, was just pointing out that Flicker's rhetoric was on the back of a great job last season, but he did fall on his sword.
Re: I think he will be given the rest of the season I was told Guy Proctor had been offered a job in the prison service so was leaving anyway.
I think if was up to me I'd let Mellon & Hecky have an extended run at managing the team. If they can start getting performances and results like Tuesday then they would be the sensible option.
I have read a few times on the board of the past links between Appleton and Ben Mansford, could it also be true to say that past links of the Chairman, Maurice Watkins means he has a soft spot for Scottish managers?
Nice to hear a manager say he is going to go and try and trouble the opposition rather than be worried to death about them and hope to grab a 1-0
