Sorry if this has been posted before. http://www.barnsley-chronicle.co.uk/sport/article/7298/mellon-leads-race-as-no-one-else-in-contacted
First paragraph of article: "Barnsley haven't spoken to any outside candidates for the vacant manager's position and hope to give the job to caretaker Micky Mellon on a permanent basis, the Chronicle understands." Last paragraph of same article: "The club is remaining tight-lipped about the search for a new boss but released a short statement on its website saying it would 'inform supporters of any developments if and when appropriate'. None of the club's directors were willing to speak to the Chronicle." Until a statement is made by the club, perhaps we should read things with a pinch of salt?
i dont get the quote "none of the directors would take to the chronicle" (or what ever it was) why is the club not even speaking to the local "rag"???????
I guess it's because last time we were in this position, the club powers-that-be made an almighty mess of it by discussing their plans in public. They made us look like amateurs as we got turned down by the likes of O'Driscoll and Butcher. You just don't go public if you are a professional outfit, and these new blokes look and sound like professionals. Hence the silence, I think. Might be wrong, of course.
One of the writers in the back few pages of the Chronicle seems to make a few gentle digs at Flicker. Interesting with the manager stats though. Under Cryne the best win percentages (not including Mellon's 100% of course!) are Thordarson and Ritchie, although not by much and you have take into consideration they managed us in the ale house league. But the best in the Championship was Simon Davey. Worst, unsurprisingly, was Keith Hill, although Hart wasn't far ahead of him. The best football though was the second half of last season under Flicker (with the occasional abberation*) and the spell under Keith Hill before his midfield disappeared. Intersting to see Ritchie and Flitcroft's stats being so much better than Hart and Hill's when, by and large, they used pretty much the same squads as their predecessors. *unsure of the spelling of this word I double checked before posting and I'm glad I did, because you wouldn't imagine what I would have been accusing the team of with my original spelling. Go on, I bet you can't put abhoration into Google and read the top suggestion without spilling your cocoa!
absolute bull **** if true by our board. Them shower of ***** in sheffield have a really good shortlist, we got micky ****ing melon, somes Barnsley fc up
The Chronicle know nothing, they rely on scouring social media/forums and draw their own conclusions. Since Keith Lodge left the Chron they've had no relationship with the club. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
