His teams play football. He has our lads buzzing. He sets up to attack not sit back. He has got 3 points off two games against top teams. If we beat Yeovil we will go on winning streak. He has really impressed me, and it was a delight to watch at Burnley. We lost but could have won it
He had Dyche ripping what hair he has left out and waving his arms like a madman
Give him while New Year, and have faith in him.

Sounds a very similar scenario to the one that got Flitcroft the job so no thanks from me.

i have to say, i agree. it just doesn't seem right, that we would sack a manager and employ the new one, in exactly the same conditions as the one before. surely we can't just repeat the same mistake immediately? i'd to see a new regime, with new ideas.

Think it is a bit premature to say that on the evidence of 2 games that immediately followed the sacking of the previous manager.

    No thanks from me.

I want Danny for manager, but I have to say that appointing Mellon isn't exactly like appointing Flicker, Mellon has managerial experience.

I disagree. He knows the players and should at least be given a little more time to show he can get the best out of them. A new man at the helm will be starting from scratch with very little opportunity to change the current personnel who it will take at least half a dozen games to familiarise himself with by which time it may be too late.

Very little guarantee that any new manager will make any difference for the better. Here's what a man (Dave Whelan), who has hired a few good ones along the way has to say about the process and how many would predict Owen Coyle would be gone within 6 months?

"A manager has to come across well and give you the impression he knows the game and you end up interviewing them and it's a finger in the air moment. If he's successful it's great but if in Owen's case he wasn't, the sooner you do something about it the better."

So in hindsight you wouldn't have appointed Flicker?

Really? If Mellon can do what Flicker did last season then I'd take that.

No hindsight required Flitcroft should have followed Hill straight out if the building last December

HOMER you never wanted to sack flitcroft and look what he produced this season, So your call/judgement to keep Mellon as manager makes me very concerned. Let the board install a fresh new manager with experience. Its time you let go of the Hill/Flitcroft/Mellon era.

It does not matter as long as he produces good attractive winning football

If Mellon starts getting results then he should have it. His record at Fleetwood was excellent, surely his sacking wasn't based on results. As for needing a new set up, all I will say is Wilson did a good job with winstanley (who was years at the club) also Hunter after Clark. Those two are probably the most successful managers we've had in recent times.

My thoughts exactly. Even if things turn out like they did for Flicker, I'd take survival and half a season of brilliant football and promotion form.

Also, I know people are saying that he is part of the last regime, but at least he has now changed it up a bit (and we are playing better as a result). If Flicker was here I reckon he would still being playing them exactly how he has been all season. It appears that Mellon is willing to try new things if something is not working (if we are saying that the old system was partly his choice too).
