I think he went to Hull to get the ferry to Rotterdam, next thing he's signing for them

I met Hill, and he was/is one of the most arrogant and obnoxious blokes I've ever met.

At the same time I met Flicker, who seemed genuine, honest and down to earth. He had time for my kids (Hill did not, and he's got young kids).

Yet Whitey and another poster (sorry, can't remember who) called Flicker unlikeable and two faced (they say they have their reasons, but they won't say on here)!

I think it's more likely to be successful than playing direct when you are relying on individuals to win you games (ie Hammill under Robins). Possession football is largely simpler. Pass and move in triangles. It's failure under Keith in the second part of his first season was because he went too cautious with it and didn't allow the full backs to overlap. This lead to even more pressure on the attacking midfielder who we failed to replace after Butterfield's injury. In his second season we had no-one to hold the ball up after letting Gray go, the defence didn't trust Davies to retain possession resulting in us playing too much, too deep.

And the reason we had the players we did us because of the budget he had.

Attacking football is the order of the day.

I'm sick of seeing centre halves try and be playmakers!

I prefer possession football myself but isn't your argument undermined by the fact that we did win more games under Robins than Hill.

It is nothing like it at all. Those teams move the ball forward, Barnsley under Hill didnt, they just went sideways until they lost the ball. Unless we had Vaz te and it eventually got to him and he made the run forwards, but he was slagged off by Hill at times for that !!

I've explained in another post why I think it ultimately didn't work under Hill, but I don't agree that we played like that whilst Vaz Te, Drinkwater and Butterfield were in the team

And lost Butterfield and Drinkwater. Our 3 best players

At the end of the day we don't all have to like the same kind of football. If you prefered us under Robins that's fair enough.

Generally being positive about Hill starting the good work that Flicker finished, but I'm overstating it, it was more about the positive comments from people about our squad.

FAO Pasta - I wasn't being a tw#t and trying to find something from the past you had posted, I was looking for this thread because I remember Perkins being linked elsewhere and everyone not wanting him to go. It just so happened you'd posted in it :)

No football is successful with talentless players.

Doesn't that make it more admirable?
