All been out of a job for weeks, if not months. Surely this new "slick" BFC board should have had some discussions with these guys prior to sacking Flicker? I've gotta be honest, the non communication from BFC is massively disappointing. All this pre-season hype, now needs putting into action.......Mansford and Watkins have a "clean sheet of paper" and have the opportunity to steer this great Club of ours in a good direction. I say, please steer it and don't leave us rudder-less.
Yep, I'll say it again. They are taking the piss out of us the fans. Rubbish, every other club in every league wouldn't do this. Shocking Mansford.
Problem is Pasta, I am convinced now that the reason why they aren't saying anything is because they have got nothing to say, because they haven't spoken to anyone. Like I have said previously, I seriously hope I am wrong and will gladly admit it if / when I am proved to be wrong, but I really think they had no plan when they sacked Flicker, hadn't spoke to anyone and are wanting to give it to Mellon. They are waiting to see what happens and are crossing their fingers that we get a result on Saturday, because if we don't, and public opinion turns completely away from Mellon, and they find they have to appoint him anyway, then things are not going to look rosy. The only other scenario, which is equally worrying, is that the picture is the same as last year - i.e. they are frantically talking to potential candidates, but they are getting repeatedly knocked back, and the only difference this time is that they are doing so in private. If so, I would be happy that we are not being made to look fools in public this time, but would be concerned about who we end us with. Either way, not looking good for me at the moment.
Well if they haven't spoken to anyone why can't they SAY that or if they are speaking to people why can't they SAY that? It's shocking from Ben Mansford ....
When they were chasing all and sundry last time and telling us all about it, they were made to look a right bunch of c0cks every time someone turned us down. My guess is that Maurice has brought an whole new level of professionalism to the process and he will have Ben Mansford going about things in a quiet restrained manner. We'll not get to hear about it until the deal is done.
They just have nothing to say at this stage in fact I'd be surprised if there is anything to say this week. If we win on Saturday then I expect them to announce that Mellon is the new manager and if we lose (or draw potentially) there will be another holding statement issued but this time I'd expect there to be some more detailed information.
Mark Twain once famously said "If you have nothing to say, say nothing". The last time we went public with our recruitment plans, we were made to look a complete set of clowns. Twice. Ben Mansford is a very bright chap, and i'm confident he won't be idling by. He certainly isn't 'taking the pi$$'. A touch more patience is required.
for all you know they might have, Hi Mr Holloway i,m Ben, hi Ben i want xxxx amount in wages, and xxxx to spend on players, Bye Mr Holloway. Hi Mr Warknock i,m Ben, hi Ben i want xxxx amount in wages, and xxxx to spend on players, Bye Mr Warknock Hi Mr Wilson i,m Ben, hi Ben i want xxxx amount in wages, and xxxx to spend on players, Bye Mr Wilson . Micky your doing a cracking job keep it up
You have absolutely no idea what is going on behind the scenes at oakwell, so i would suggest taking a leaf out of the clubs books and say nothing until theres anything meaningful to say. While we all want the situation clearing up as soon as possible i would much rather them do it this way than copy the debacle of last season, now that was taking the piss
People have such short memories. The club were made to look very silly last year when they announced who they'd approached over the job. Best not to make the same mistake again. They said they were giving Mellon 3 games, so by my reckoning we can expect some sort of message by Monday morning, and that's likely to be either, they've given Mellon the job, or they're continuing their search.
I miss the big white Oakwell cat he was always good for a news scoop. Seriously is it not reasonable to assess the candidates assess performances etc. in most businesses recruitment of key personnel is conducted over a reasonable amount of time not just made up of the back of a *** packet.
I think we should publicly announce who were after and that we have offered them the best package ever. Then everyone can laugh at us when they turn us down.
Couldn't disagree more. I don't mind that they didn't speak to anyone prior to the sacking because I think that is a disgraceful way to act, to be lining someone up whilst a man is still in a job. And we make an announcement when there is something to announce.
Eaststander, it's called pro-active management. You can't wait for the inevitable to happen, which it did with Flicker. You have to have a contingency plan, and unless BFC are being very cagey on this, if looks to me like we are drifting aimlessly towards giving Mellon the job. If BFC are actively running through a recruitment process, they should be telling us, the paying fans, that's what they are doing. We have heard absolutely nothing since Flicker got sacked. At least down at SWFC, Manadaric has openly explained he has a short-list. I personally think it's a disgrace.
Don't agree. I would say we are moving positively towards Mellon and not drifting aimlessly at all. It doesn't worry me at all that nothing has been said since the last statement. Patience.....................................................................................................................................................please
