Is it just me or does anyone else remember this from back in the day? Mebbe it was a Wakey thing. Been trying to explain it to folk here in the office, to blank looks. Basically when you were picking teams for football, usually at school at dinner-time, if it got down to the last two (usually the kids with two left feet), they'd decide between them who was 'engine' and who was 'boiler', then the captain whose turn it was would say engine or boiler and get the kid in question. All sounds incredibly gay.

Nope, but I remember when we were deciding who got first go at picking sides, one player from each side would stand a few yards apart, and put their foot in front of the other, in turn, til they got closer, and finally someone would be in position to tread on the other person's shoe. They won & got first pick.

Kids wouldn't know what to make of that nowadays.
