a) We lose tomorrow and are seven points adrift with no thought having so far been given to a permanent manager (survival disappearing over the horizon with it's arse on fire), or b) We win and Micky is in - only for the last 12 months to be potentially replayed again with a substandard squad of players that Micky believes to be "very talented". With all due respect Ben (and with my tin hat firmly on for the flak on here) this ain't the way to retain my custom next year (and a few more on here, I'm guessing).
Even if we were to lose tomorrow, which I don't believe we will 'cos I'm optimistic like that, then it's clearly barmy to suggest that no thought would have been so far given to a permanent manager.
Do you see any evidence of that, BR? I have seen no statement from Ben to suggest that there is any plan other than seeing how Micky gets on for a couple of games.
I always find it strange that People think the club haven't given a thought to appointing a new manager! Do you seriously believe they turn up to work every morning, pat saying to Ben "have we got any pressing business to do today" Ben to pat "no mate, we haven't got a manager in place, but we don't have to bother" Pat to Ben "fancy a cuppa"
I can have it that the details might be kept private, but given the clamour for some sort of information, Ben would surely be saying something like: "we are prepared for Micky to have a go at 'being his own man' but should that not prove successful, we have a plan in place going forward." So far, we've only heard the first part of that. As for what Pat says to Ben, I don't get the impression that PC is a day to day visitor to Oakwell. If we weren't keen to know what's going on, then presumably we'd not all be on here?
re the talented players, what would you have liked MM to say?? "They're all fcukin lower league laikers who'll do nowt but take us down" Do you know anything regards man management?
Perhaps I do, BC. It doesn't involve abuse, but it does require honesty and home truths, in my opinion. The message they are getting so far is that they're incredibly talented, which is the same love-in that they got from Flicker. "The players know that we are all in a results business. So far, they haven't achieved the results we need to stay in this division. They now have an opportunity to demonstrate to me that they are capable of achieving that level, failing which, we will have to look to strengthen."
