We didn't sack Wilson as a clueless manager did we? He simply left on his own accord, thinking he had a better career path at SWFC. Danny Wilson is an experienced manager, loved by the majority of the BFC faithful and I believe would be a good choice at this time.
How can it be a looking backwards to give the managers job to someone with a record like Wilson? You are beginning to sound like Hemsworth over Hassell !!! Totally irrational !!
"Backwards" is an emotive term. Look at it another way. We had a successful manager on a limited budget, he went off and did other things (none too shabbily) and now we still have a limited budget and he's looking for a job. I wouldn't consider reinstating him as going "backwards" in that context.
I think enough time has moved on for us to simply say, he's an experienced manager and he may do a good job for us. Any managerial appointment is a gamble.
That's why we shouldn't get him. Too much pressure for instant success due to his past success. Will make the job 100 times harder.
We are going for a manager from the lower leagues again, one sacked by 4 lower leagues clubs for goodness sake. But if it buys the popular vote. Championship experience is required.
Wilson has experience through the league! Is best experience was in the Championship, when he got us promoted. I do actually agree with you that experience is vital, so I would also take Warnock, if that's the way we decide to go.
He's got it. With us. But don't panic. He won't be getting it. Neither will anyone else with "Championship Experience"
Please Patrick - YES to Danny Wilson Please Patrick - YES to Danny Wilson! And bloody hurry up and get on with it. There are a small number who won't let go of their blinkers about the past, but the majority of fans would welcome Danny Wilson back and his appointment would energise the club and the fanbase.
Re: Please Patrick - YES to Danny Wilson Think about this for a moment. Forget Wilson had any previous association with us. Would he be the 1st choice of the majority on here? Not for me I'm afraid. We need a clean slate away from the current and previous regimes and need an appointment to rekindle the passion and desire to get back down to Oakwell again. At the moment it's like being in a loveless relationship. Saturday afternoons used to be a time where supporters looked forward to attending. At the moment people are finding it more of an ordeal. Please not Wilson
He's the fans' choice Like it or not. For my part, I'm not going back in time. He just isn't going to replicate it..... But he knows this league, and the league below. Experience, and the fans choice, and possibly not out of reach. It's a no-brainer for me. Wilson back asap.
I'm hoping that we might stop seeing centre halves as playmakers and each player being able of contributing
That's a valid point and one the makes me think that it's time for PC to relinquish the reigns. If only things were that easy.
Re: Please Patrick - YES to Danny Wilson I actually believe that had Wilson not been here before then he would be getting mentioned as a viable candidate yes. People would be well aware of him having managed at Sheffield United in the recent past, and having been sacked in ridiculous circumstances with them in the top 5 at the time, and people would see that he has a consistently good win percentage record and a good style of play. people would also see that he has bags of experience at League 1 level. One thing is for certain, people would be more favourable of Wilson if he had never been here then they ever were of Mellon if he had never been here. I think that it is precisely the fact that he has been here before that is blinding a small number of people to what a good candidate he is, purely on his merits.
Re: He's the fans' choice He doesn't know this league though. This league is so much different than what what it was 16 years ago.
PC has been wanting to relinquish the reigns for years. No one wants to invest, in a way which will move the Club forward and give him his money back. And he's perfectly entitled to demand both.
