Only just got in and watched the conference. I've literally never seen or heard Barry Taylor speak. Not once. Is he actually alive, or just some kind of remote controlled cadaver?
None of the press asked him any questions (which he seemed a bit disappointed about). I know he doesn't usually get involved in the media side of the club but then that's not his job. He's a non-executive director. Ben Mansford and to a lesser extent Maurice Watkins are the face of the football club. The club also have a media team to deal with such things. Myself and Hicksy had quite a long chat with him afterwards. It sounds like he was heavily involved in Wilson's appointment and has been working hard behind the scenes on this since Saturday. I can only comment on my experience of the man and I've probably spoken to him on a handful of occasions but I find him polite and courteous and more than anything passionate about Barnsley Football Club. Don't forget he's been doing this job for 30 years. He doesn't get paid or take expenses from the club. He does it for the love of the club. The nature of what he does goes unseen by most of us which is why he unfairly, in my opinion, takes some stick. I also get the impression that Patrick relies on him to be his eyes and ears on the ground since his illness has meant he cant really get to Oakwell.
Gally, well said. I still believe that the BFC panel of 3 were sat on a see-saw and that Taylor was there to balance the see-saw. If not, Mansford would have weighed it down, Danny would then have slid down, into Mansford and they could have ended up grappling on the floor. I've seen people get kicked out of the Exec suites for less than that.....and it wouldn't have looked good on Sky Sports?
