Birmingham after the play off game was fun.

Lost 3-1 there a few weeks before and even some stewards where throwing coins.

Fast forward a few weeks and we batter them 4-0 away. The locals were't too happy haha. Remember I was about 15 and one side of the coach was hit by bricks. Official coach and remember one brick hitting the window where a young girl who would have 7 was sat.

But Wolves is always a friendly place to go, Southampton when Disco scored late on was a welcoming place after the game too.

Re: The second 2-1 win of that season

We played a few games on a Friday didn't we? That Chelsea game, and I'm sure we played Rotherham at home on a Friday and then that bloody game at Grimsby. 2-0 up at half time, "we're going up, we're going up", lost 3-2. Biggest crush I've ever been in at a football ground that corner at Grimsby. Didn't we play the very next day at home to Derby? Why did we do that? It's highly likely I've got all that wrong, long time ago.

The Grimsby game was on Good Friday.
You're right about the game against Rotherham being on a Friday, too. We won that game 3-0, with Alan Birch 2 & Colin Walker scoring (I think!). Ronnie Glavin & Alan Birch scored the goals against Chelsea and Colin Walker got both against Grimsby.

The last time we went to Tranmere, when we won 1-0 and Paul Heckinbottom scored. They were waiting for us outside the stadium

Yet another vote for Birmingham in the play offs. The walk back to the train station was like the film The Warriors.

Portsmouth was never a nice place to visit and you have to keep your wits about you when you come out of the ground. We came out one year and some local hardcases were actually leaning on the police van looking for someone to kick off on, whilst the police just stood there and watched.

I've seen trouble outside various grounds in London, but QPR is the one where I have seen it most regularly, even more so than Chelsea and Millwall.

There are quite a few grounds that I am glad I have ticked off, but won't be visiting again, mostly in the west midlands.

I was there too. I think the coach had been booked with The Dove or maybe The Mount, and it had gone to do another job while the match was on, and was subsequently late in turning back up. Very intimidating.

I was on an official club coach that day and luckily ours was untouched.

Re: Valley Parade in the 1970's

Bradford City was THE derby match at the time. Violence between the two sets of fans was like no other. On one occasion a police horse was blinded in one eye after being hit by a house brick. Very unpleasant period for being a football fan.

Liverpool after we won 1-0 in the Prem. Went in the car and had to find it later in the dark. Not fun.

White Hart Lane. Not even for a bfc game too. Was in London visiting a mate who lived in Streatham. He got tickets for us to go watch Leeds play there. In with spurs fans. It was the game when Lee Chapman got his face smashed on the asphalt round the pitch. Anyway it didn't take long for the natives to realise we were Yorkshire lads. Police wouldn't move us. We spent the entire game surrounded by hooligans spitting and trying to get to us. We left with about 10 to go followed by a group of them, never run so fast to the tube. Proper bricked it.
