And give them what they wanted? - Apparently both wanted the police to kill them so they could be martyrs to their cause. Let them rot in prison for a long, long time with the occasional beating thrown in for good measure.

 

Didnt know they actually wanted to be killed so cant argue with that.

Odd thread this, opening post says the media brushed it under the carpet, someone who responds says the trial is a joke as the defendants got the the publicity they wanted.

 

As an ex soldier I agree with you 100% mate. What they did was completely different to what the Marine did so lets see if the sentence reflects it. It's a crying shame there isn't a sentence that fits the crime that these two carried out.

They should never get out - simple as. They're "life" should be over as Lee Rigby's is, but incarserated for ever so thay have plenty of time to reflect on the terrible thing they have done.

 

I'm sure the whole life tariff got abolished by those meddlers from the Europeans Courts of Human Rights.

I hope the family can find some way to move on but how you'd do that after such an horrific event is beyond me.

Ian Brady and Rose West are sentenced to life meaning life. Ian Huntley got a minimum of 40 years, but the judge said "The order I make offers little or no hope of the defendant's eventual release."

I think it still is an option.

 

I watched a series called When Life Means Life and I'm sure it mentioned something on there about whole life tariffs getting abolished. I think they cant say you'll never be released or the Human Rights lot say its inhumane to give the poor lambs no hope of release, they really should keep their beaks out. I agree --- I think all life-sentenced prisoners have to be assessed by a parole board before release, not sure if public opinion is taken into consideration at the time of the parole hearing.

 

Tomfun I'm no fan of the Yanks but if those scumbags had murdered a GI in New York I really do think their futures would be more bleak than they are ATM.

We really must make sure they never see the outside of the prison walls.
