Take Swann's comment. Someone who has been raped will be deeply offended by it -- they wont take it as alight-hearted comment or as banter. Whilst we don't agree with someone we mustn't ignore or belittle their opinion. We must respect their viewpoint otherwise we are bullies.
It's a horrible use of the word and it's not one I'd ever condone someone using. I know language evolves and all that, but rape is a vile offence and should only ever be used in that context. If you get badly beaten by someone in World of Warcraft, at cricket, or whatever, you weren't raped. That said, do I find what Swann said offensive? No, do I ********. I don't like it, but I'm not offended by it. I have been offended by the gimmes he's been otssing down to the Aussie batsmen though.
All day ive heard on the radio about support groups for people who have been raped being outraged about the comments, i didn't even know these groups where out there until today (well not for men that had been rapped anyway i knew that women had help but not men), and i bet a lot of people have heard about these male rape help groups for the first time today too, Swan could have done more good then he as bad if just one person as been able to find help today it's been worth it in my eyes, and i'd bet the offended groups feel exactly the same as they shout as loud and publicly as they can about their outrage, making themselves know to all.
Yaay. That's me. But seriously, that did make me smile. And I've had the pleasure of your dads company. I was 12 at the time and he came and did some coaching when I played for the Falcons. I hope he's well. He brought Nicky Eaden with him that day, think he used to play for them when he was young. Rumour has it that he's joining Danny. I would like your dad back in some capacity. I always hoped he'd get the proper the job, I was at the Huddersfield game where he was caretaker. We won that day and I thought he'd be appointed in the Summer. But Bassett got it. Was Eric ever close to getting it at any point? Did he even want it? You don't have to answer, pal. Just curious. Btw, do you still play for my cricket team on Armroyd Lane? Reight club that.
Not sure to be fair. I think at some points he felt he had a chance. Especially the time he bought Mark Smith and Brian McCord in and the club bought them, which was a fair outlay at the time. They were both brilliant when they were on loan. If he hadnt have had his heart attack at the time he did then maybe he might have got his chance. I think overall he was caretaker about 6 or 7 times. These days I think he would have had his chance considering the method we have used recently.
