"Suarez signs new Liverpool deal Uruguay striker Luis Suarez signs a new four-and-a-half-year deal at Liverpool that will eventually see him earn £200,000 per week. " No footballers (and very few people in any field of activity) "earn" £200k per week! Fact.
Within the space of 2 news reports on Talksport it went from 160k to 200k. 25% rise in half a hours not bad
It's actually a £40k rise in half a season. He's on £160k per week for the rest of this season and then £200k per week for the next 4 years. Incredible. That's why it costs so much to watch football nowadays and why I'm not going to Leeds. Too expensive.
I have to try to ignore the wages otherwise it completely spoils watching my favourite sport. Even the most gifted player, scoring the most sublime goal (Suarez fits the bill on both counts at present), should not be taking home that. Figures too high to comprehend. Football is obscene... yet still addictive.
Well, if you consider tax deductions, you are right. But seriously, I agree to an extent. All good for the chancellor, though.
Its part of football and they do "earn" there money just as I do at work. Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk
The problem is wider than football though. The market value of a job doesn't always equal its real value. Nurses are apparently only worth 20k a year starting salary. But take 5 from a ward in a hospital and the difference is markedly more than Suarez being out injured for a week.
I'd rather not get drawn into this debate, and I am sure many others on here will thank for me for it. Anyway, it's not up to me.
