After watching Tudgays sending off, I did not think it was a red. Then I watched Stoke v Villa on Sky, and there were three tackles which were absolutely atrocious. Two got yellows and one did not even get booked. I think the standards of Referees has slipped over the last few years. I think the way forward is to get former players in , who are fit and know all the tricks such as diving, and 50/50 balls. In Cricket, Tennis, Rugby, they have a review. Hence why cannot Managers call for a review , say three in a match on dives and Reds. Their could be a third ref who replays the incident using such as Sky and informs the Ref what he decides. When a player gets a red, it spoils the game. There should be a 15 minute sin bin, then they come back on. The whole hierarchy wants clearing out and some younger guys in, as the game needs new ideas. In the hard climate of today they spend large amounts of money with no problem. If they cut their cloth a bit the cost of matches could come down, but they are not interested in supporters needs, only their money

At Bell End Road, with 30000+ fans baying for blood you ain't gonna get away with that.

Agree that there were 3 worse that got yellows on the telly.

Thankfully we held our resolve, instead of capitulating as in the past.

I thought it was a clear a red as you'll ever see. I watched it back a few times and I reckon it was a deliberate attempt to get a red as well.

No complaints about the red some games he might have got away with it but it looked a red card challenge to me had it been hr other way round we would all have been clamouring for it. I can't believe he would deliberately go for a red though or are you suggesting he was paid by a match fixer to get sent off.

I think ST is suggesting Tudgay wanted Xmas off. A pretty low accusation to level at a professional footballer, but not unheard of.

Theres a reason Explayers arent refs. Because they know the **** refs take and dont want the hassle

As for having reviews IT WONT WORK. It would slow the game down too much.

Imagine this scenario. A Reds player gets taken out in his own half,Barnsley break away and score, only to find out the ref decided he wants a review and had stopped the game.
How would you feel. You would be on here saying its ludicrous the rule needs changing.

The ref has the hardest position on a soccer field, and they do a great job

Think it's more to do with the money in football that they don't need to go through training to be a ref as they have enough to live off forever.

That was what I was hinting at however I don't actually think Tudgay did or would do that. I'm sure there are players out there that do it though. Nolan at West Ham has managed to get himself suspended for EVERY single christmas period for the last 6 years. That simply cant be a coincidence

I reckon there's a hell of a lot who fake injury when they don't want to play a game though

You must be joking, most matches at Barnsley we are chanting ,we only get **** refs. The ref would have asked for a review before we got to their goal. As for slowing the game down too much, it does not slow other games down too much. Not all refs are poor but a lot are.p

I agree, I don't think Tudgay would do that, especially in his position.
